Man, it's been so many decades since I last Trick'r'Treated that I'd completely forgotten about trading Halloween candy. Full size chocolate bars were the top scores, but variety is the spice of life and we weren't ones to look down on carmel popcorn balls, carmel apples, Smarties, or even Candy Corn. The candy that got caught in your teeth was a minor buzz kill, but that didn't stop us from eating it. Nobody ever handed out Necco Wafers to us so I've never had one, but I'm sure we'd have given them a go. Even the "lowly" Tootsie Roll was acceptable, as long as we weren't in saturation overload with them. Personally, I was even good with the "gay farmers" (Jolly Ranchers ).
