It's like he went to BUDs.

Pretty much.
BRC is a swift kick in the balls, all day, every day for 13-14 weeks. I know it beat the ever-lovin’ snot out of a punk kid who thought he was tough from the South Side of Chicago.
Now you’re a Reconnaissance Marine.
THEN (much like BUDS) there’s other stuff ya gotta learn. Like how to get into and out of your battle space. Jump, swim, boat, drive, walk- or any combination thereof. They send you off to those schools.
Call for fire (artillery support / air support) how to set up landing zones, photography, survival in all sorts of different climates and areas, communications, navigation- on all different terrain- including underwater.
The major difference between BRC (or ARS, depending on when you went in) and BUDS is-
SEALS recruit from across all MOS’s Navy wide.
Recon / Force Recon only pull from Infantry and some Marines in Communication. So Marines going into BRC already have the basics of Infantry and Communication skills.
The Indoc for MARSOC (Marine Raiders) is pretty much the same- however, MARSOC recruits from all MOS’s.
