I tried 3x to transfer from the US Army reserve to either the VA or NC National Guard because I wanted to finish out my career in either armor or Artillery but was denied 3x.

So, the red tape and push back will be there.
I think Space Force would be interesting.

A couple of years ago, I got a call on a Saturday afternoon with of Utah area code. It was from a Major who was given free hand in standing up a new reserve space force unit based out of Fort Carson.

He could pick any enlisted and Officer he wanted and the transfer would be guaranteed.

I would have jumped at the chance and still regret not doing it, but NC to Fort Carson is a haul and we all know travel pay is not always guaranteed.
