Different articles speculate on what species the snake actually is and that it has been so still while hunting in swamp water that moss or aquatic grass has grown over it.

Video: 'Furry' Snake Found in Thailand

By Tim Binnall

March 03, 2022

A mesmerizing video that has gone viral on social media in Thailand shows a captured snake which seemingly sports a bizarre furry green body, though the creature is not quite as monstrous as it may seem. The weird-looking animal was reportedly discovered late last month by a man dubbed 'Tu' as he was walking outside his home in the country's Sakhon Nakhon province. In the midst of his stroll, the homeowner could not believe his eyes when he looked over at some water on his property and spotted a confounding creature that appeared to be a rather hairy snake.

Puzzled by the peculiar creature, the man managed to capture the oddity and brought it home to show his family. His niece, Waraporn Panyasarn, was particularly impressed, marveling that "I have never seen a snake that looked like this before," which prompted her to film the weird beast and share it online "to let people find out what it is and research about it." Her effort wound up being more successful that she probably imagined as the video quickly went viral with, so far, a staggering nine million people having seen the footage.

Fortunately, by virtue of the footage being seen by so many people, it did not take long for the mystery of the furry green snake to be solved. Wildlife experts managed to identify the creature as most likely being an aquatic skull snake. Its 'fur,' they explained, appeared to some kind of vegetation, perhaps moss or lemon grass, that had somehow gotten stuck to the animal's body. That said, how the creature could have accumulated so much of the curious coating remains a matter of conjecture.

He looks like a nice snake. Cuddly and soft.

Also looks like he can be made into a dust wand.

That looks like something from a damn sci fi movie.

Or maybe a Christmas wreath that quit and slithered off the job.

A 12 gauge with some of my outdated high brass #4 waterfowl lead shot should shred its head nicely.
