A friend took this photo of me out on the boat the other night. As I advance in years, my ears seem to be getting larger. Why is this? At this rate they'll be larger than Dumbo's by the time I'm 70! Is this a medical concern?

IANAD but, it's my understanding that from birth, your ears and your nose never stop growing.

There's no excuse for 'spaghetti straps' on a tank top though...

Size wise, I am still unchanged. I have begun to sprout more hair in them then I have on the rest of my head. This is unsightly and disturbing!

I have a theory about this including things like hairy ears, bushy eyebrows, receding hair, gray hair and other aging features. Evolution or selective breeding doesn't give two shits what you look like once past breeding age.

Pinocchio's nose grew when he told a fib. I'm guessing you are hearing too many lies.

Do they wobble to and fro?

Can you throw them over your shoulder like a Continental soldier?

IIRC - Ears and noses are made of cartilage not bone, so they never stop growing.

Same with sharks. Their "bones" are made of cartilage.

Based on what I have read, I agree with our other board members that it's normal for ears and noses to continue growing, especially through old age.

In trying to help out, I looked at an online program that can project your future ear growth. I plugged in your approximate age and used your photograph to get a fair projection of ear size for you in about 15 years.

Here's the result, but remember it is only a projection based on averages:
