I’m not to 50 yet but I was just wondering. For most of my life I had 20/15 vision.

I can tell it’s not excellent anymore but I still have decent unassisted vision. I was just thinking 50 seems to be a fair guess where most could use some help if not already wearing glasses.

I'm 62 and my eyes always test at 20/20 during physicals. I do however use readers for fine print.

62, mostly OK, but need reading glasses for close-up or detailed work. I first noted that slight degradation around my late 40s.

They told me I would go blind if I didn't stop.

Shows how much they know, the dummies.

Zeus and I laugh about it all the time.

I’m 60 now. I got readers when I turned 50.
If I have a good light source, I can usually get by without them.

One thing I noticed is when I look in the mirror now , I am much more handsome.

I started wearing glasses when I was 9. After I was past 60, my dr told me I needed cataract surgery. For the first time in my life, my vision is 20/20.

One of the few advantages to getting older.

66 no glasses for distance or close. Close I sometimes need better light. I think my close vision was worse 5 years ago. I can see detail well enough that hotties shouldn't wear swimsuits around me.

I was using readers in my 50s. Soon to be examined for cataracts. 65 now.

When I was 39, my eye Doc told me when I turned 40, I would probably need longer arms. WTF? Really?

I had 20/20 vision all my life.

No Shit, when I turned 40, I could not believe it. The son of a bitch was right.

I began using 1.25 readers which I use to this day. Nothing stronger, but just enough to get by.

When I was approaching age 50, I asked him what I might expect. he told me he was not the Doc for 50. Smile

I got glasses in 1st grade. By common metrics, I’m about 20/400. At 57, I have bifocals, and can’t see really close up anyhow.

Love my new 32” Samsung 2560 x 1440 monitor for work...

I needed the lowesst power readers at age 52, 68 now. Vision in my right eye has slightly deterioated last year or so due to branch retina occulvision, and beginnings of macular degeneration in that eye.

Tiny amount of cataracts.

The right eye issue , since I am right eye dominsnt, causes a tad little problem shooting.

20/20 until mid 40's ... then mild readers.
Age 50, cataracts both eyes, lens replacement both eyes. Yep, too young for cataracts.
Now 67 and use readers. The lens replacement is at a fix focal length and I chose focused distance. Eye doc offered one eye for distance and one for closer. Said my brain would learn to adjust. Nope, "Just fix them both the same for distance and I'll use readers." Have learned to point and shoot better with intuition rather than a solid firearm sight picture (though I can somewhat use sights). Firearms with scopes, I can adjust of course.

In the US, presbyopia usually hits when you turn 40. The age is different in some other countries. I'm not sure anyone knows why this is.

Jesus, at this point I will be lucky to make 50 and I’ve had shitty eyesight since about 1st grade.

Reading up close is still crisp. Things I once was able to easily read at a distance is what I notice mostly. I blame it on too much time in front of a computer.

Very timely thread, My vision has always been very good. Time finally caught up with me and last week I got an eye exam and a +1 prescription for readers at 48. it was getting tough to focus close in, the eye doc said lots of extra screen time for work this past year probably did me in a bit early.

40 was when I noticed it. A year later it's worse. Still have 20/20, but can't see shit within 3'

I am 46. I had 20/20 until my 30’s. I need glasses for distance and I have been living in denial about it. At least my up close vision is still good.
