We’re remodeling our pool/spa and backyard. Was planning on replacing the concrete decking with pavers but that is no longer an option. Contractor suggested either spray deck coating or a stamped concrete overlay. Looking for any experiences with either or both. I’m leaning toward the spray deck, it’s not as fancy looking but is cooler in summer and less slippery. And from my brief research less maintenance as the stamped requires resealing every couple years and is more susceptible to cracking/chipping. Cheers! Mongo only pawn in game of life...

Gone but Together Again. Dad & Uncle |
We've had our pool for +20 years and it has cool-deck on it. The only maintenance is to power wash in the Spring. Our separate patio is "sealed" stamped concrete and is about 8 years old. The sealant fades very quickly, and quite frankly if you wanted to keep it looking great, would need to be redone 2x for the Spring to Fall season. Purportedly the installer "over-applied" the original sealant. So now we have 2 options; 1) wait 5 years for every shred of sealant to dissipate before it is properly sealed, 2) mix half sealant/zylene and reapply 1-2X per year. My spouse won't live with it looking like crap for 5 years so guess which option I have to endure? If you go with stamped concrete, just be damn sure they know how to properly seal it.

I Deal In Lead |
I've got cool deck around my pool, the concrete off to the side of it where the table and umbrella are, a couple of stepping stone "islands" and my whole patio. In hot weather it's great as I can walk over it even when it's 115 degrees out.
