I went a couple years ago and just made reservations for this year (in Yuma AZ).
Was able to get a couple cases of 7 1/2 an 8 shot shells last week soooo, looks like I am set.

30-odd years ago I worked/lived in Imperial County. I can remember a morning making my Dove limit from my yard. Lots of space out there. Have fun and good luck.

The first time I went (two years ago), I got two with my truck and then one per box of shells. (Had six boxes BTW)
I'd like to blame the choke selection, shot size, brand of shells, sun behind me, truck needing gas, no beer in the hotel room, etc

Yeah, my favorite type of hunting for action.
Haven’t been able to go in several years though, my lease lost some pastures the last year I joined. Lease manager offered a refund because one of the pastures he lost (sold 2 weeks before season), was the best one to be in after the first two weekends. Been Insanely busy with work since then and just haven’t had the time unless I schedule it off which I’d rather do for whitetail season because I really love me some venison.
Definitely going to get back into it at some point though.

Doves? Is that a thing?
We have a couple that come to our bird bath daily. They also kind of sunbath on our river stone path.
They are such a cute couple.... Awwwwww.

Just because college girls live in your complex doesn't mean you need to rub it in.

Did you hit any or did they die of heart attacks?
In case you missed the joke:
Well let's just say, i never did find any pellets in the six.

September 1st is a national holiday for me and my friends. It started at an early age with my dad. He would pick me up from school after lunch if the season started on a school day.
We haven't seen as many doves this year as in years past. But that doesn't mean I won't set up a stool under a mesquite tree and put my dad's twice-barrel across my lap to celebrate his memory.

Opening day of dove season is my favorite day of the year. I have been dove hunting with my Dad every year since I was a small boy toting around a Red Ryder. It was really the first hunting I got to tag along on, as I was the retriever putting birds out of their misery with a well placed BB. That said, there is a possibility it's going to be a weird one this year... My dad has cancer and after removing a kidney last year and the upper lobe of his lung earlier this year, he is currently going through immunotherapy that has him fairly wiped out. I'm not sure he's going to be able to stand a hot Georgia dove field. I think I've only missed hunting with him one opening day, back when we were expecting my first son a few years ago. I still went, but I went much closer to home just in case.
I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Yep. Have a buddy that participated in a hunt last year that's a fundraiser for a charity. I heard about it too late and got locked out last year. This year I signed up early and got in.
It's not opening day but it will be in a private filed with a limited number of hunters.
the NC Wildlife plants fields for public hunts. I did that once - never again. Too crowded and I didn't feel safe. Also, there were multiple people shooting at the same bird and no way to tell who hit it.
