For the rear pool deck the expandable is the way to go, takes up less space, lightweight, added benefit is when the wife uses it she'll put it up, I don't have to go out there and roll up 75 feet of hose.

We've had a couple, one with brass fittings from FitLife off Amazon, one of the ends started leaking, the original order had LIfetime guarantee, when we contacted them for the replacement, they changed the listing, removed lifetime (wish I had scree captured it) and then offered a discount coupon.

I won't order from them for their poor business practices.

Any suggested hoses, needs to be 75 feet long to reach the far end of the patio... Grow Green and Elk Bear get decent reviews online, brass fittings seem to be a feature of the better hoses.

Honestly, my experience with this is that they ALL leak after some time. They worked great for a while, then they all hit the can.

Don't get me wrong, it's a neat idea, but the materials just aren't what they need to be. You'd be better off getting a higher quality 75-100ft hose.

I have (had) three of the black and gold NeverKink hoses from Lowe's. They all have to be about 14 years old. One broke, I went to their website, uploaded a picture, and they sent me a virtual Visa card to cover the cost of a replacement.

I got two of these last year and they made it through a full year. Usually the other brands I've tried wouldn't even last a full year.

Link to the hose that i just jinxed.

They supposedly have a 5 year warranty, so I kept the boxes and receipt and gave them a try. one year in and i'm still happy.

We bought a couple of these as well. This will be the second season for them.

I have used a couple I grabbed at Lowes 4 years ago, they have lasted fine.

Sorry I cannot remember the brand and I had to connect 2 to reach 50+ feet.

I've always considered them "disposable" so always went cheap. That said, the set I have has lasted several years. It is kept indoors except when used.

The "expandable" part of the hose is made out of latex rubber. This is a degradable compound over time. Unless technology has changed - not sure the Lowes one, as that's a bit more expensive.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

I had one of these that leaked like a sieve the first time I used it. They exchanged it and it has been good for a year, but I store it in my truck.

Pocket Hose (brand) has been the best one I've had as far as storage size and they usually last a while.

The one important factor is how well YOU take care of the hose. I do not care for expandable hoses, they do not last. Buy a top of the line hose and take care of it. No sitting in the sun, drained and coiled in the garage after each use. I have hoses that are fifty years old.

They were not cheap but if memory serves they were $30 or so each. I have not babied them, I try the drain and coil them outside but there have been plenty of time they sat out in a Texas summer.

I doubt any are anything other than varying quality of Chinese crap. Several are probably the same Chinese crap, marketed under different names.
Not sure if that answers your question.

Elk and Bear are USA made... so there's that and it has a lifetime warranty,

Looked at the Lowes offering, its more a collapsed hose than an expanding/contracting hose so it's not what momma wants. 50 feet won't reach all her plants and 100ft is too much.

We also have two of these.
The main reason I like them is because they are light.
Hauling a heavy-ass hose around the yard is just too much for my wife Smile
I will say they DO kink and our front one has a couple leaks (seeping leak) but I think it is because we might have drug it over some sharp rock or something.
Had the shrink hoses before but they just can't take it.
This one isn't bad but not perfect.
YMMV

You want a Pocket Hose, a 50' collapses so small it will fit in a 1 gallon paint can easily.

Thanks for the tips, as said earlier the Lowes hose is nice, but it's heavy and bulky at 100ft, doesn't compress the way she wants it to for storage in the pot we have for a hose.

So ordered the Elk and Bear, USA made, 75 feet, hopefully that will take care of what she wants.
