Looking for something a bit more secure than Slack - BBME seems interesting, but too complicated, I think - we're supposed to have a demo tomorrow.

Someone on here, I think, suggested Microsoft Teams, but that seems a bit expensive for what they offer.

I've recently looked into it a little bit. There isn't a lot of info about how it works, it's closed source apparently. The biggest comparisons were it against Signal, but focused on the personal use side of Lockdown and one to one messaging, not group chats.

What, exactly, are you trying to achieve, Aglifter?

A more secure alternative to Slack, for work.

Teams is also a resource hog. I really dislike how slow it is, compared to Skype for Business (Enterprise Office 365)

We have Slack at work, but I don't use it. My understanding is it's a message board.

We have Skype for business as our Instant Messenger, and that works great. Calls, IM, screen sharing, etc...

To pose the question differently, what features are you looking for? I never understood the point of Slack if it is in fact a message board. <shrugs>

Not familiar with Skype for business. What is their encryption like?

Slack is our primary means of internal communication.

We have people who operate until 1AM, and others who start at 4AM.

It works well to share non-urgent messages, and send PDFs and spreadsheets and photos to one another, and to have certain channels set up so that certain people can communicate with each other, as a group.

I suppose it really is just a message board.

Not sure how well the calling feature works, we haven’t tried that.

Ideally, it would also be secure enough to use to share employment details.

We are also looking for an alternative to WhatsApp, for my family. (We are spread out in a few countries. I’m a bit isolated, as my flip phone cannot access it/I don’t want to give FB free rein. We are discussing switching to Signal.)
