Luckily it went the other way for me. I ordered a Gator EFX aluminum trifold bed cover for the Tundra for $550.
It arrived the other day and I put it on today. The box says Gator EFX, the instructions say Gator EFX, all the parts and everything in the directions were identical.
I got it all installed and unfolded the last section and latched it closed.

That is strange I headed on over to googly and Amazon. $849 is the cheapest I can find that cover for.
Don’t really care as long as they honor any warranty claims since my purchase invoice is for a Gator EFX.
But if it were the other way around I would be pissed!

Nice! I lucked out with the same brand you received. $250 less on Amazon than anywhere else and had it in one day. Works great. Only leak is from the gaps in the plastic bed liner and that’s minimal. I’ll eventually seal.

Best friends dad bought a new car years ago. It was badged a Dodge on one side and Plymouth on the other new from the factory. He thought it funny and would not let the dealer fix it. Probably a similar thing with you top.

Looks great!

I ran it through the car wash as a worst case scenario test.
It leaks a little at her tailgate on each side. Very minimal and to be expected. I may try to slide it back just slightly to see if it helps. But I was not expecting this to be waterproof and am happy with the results.

Many years ago when I was barely in my 20's I became a Service Advisor for a Chevrolet Dealership. It was a Chevy store only, no other brands there.

One day we got in a pickup right off the transport truck, it was 1/2 Chevy and 1/2 GMC.

The Drivers side outside and inside door panel was Chevy C10 (the basic model back in those days, Scottsdale was the middle model and Silverado was the top model).

The Passenger side of the pickup was GMC badged outside trim and interior door panel.

Some of the interior parts were mismatched as well, and the left and right side hubcaps were different.

We were all pointing and laughing when the dealership owner came out and wanted to know what was so funny. He laughed, pointed at it, and told us to just go park it back in the fenced gated corral area and not to mess with it, and to keep the salesman away from it until he could get the Chevy Factory Rep out to look at it.

Your tailgate leaks are likely coming from the vertical edges of the tailgate. There is a rubber trim that can be applied to reduce that. Instant Karma, drop me an email. I found the trim I didn't install, I will send it to you.

As for the rebranding question, people do it all the time. Think Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infinity, Cadilac/Cheveolet, and Lincoln/Ford for a few easy ones with larger markups.

Seeing that bicycle, please learn about a 360° walk if you don't know already. I know it is behind your truck in your drive, but it is a great reminder.

Similar, though not the same product -- In the mid 90's I needed to replace a motor for my Pioneer 6-pack CD player. The tech priced it at $100 installed. He took a box marked Denon and opened it. Inside was another box marked Pioneer; from which he took the part. He than smiled and said, "If I had the Denon Player the same repair would price $50 more."

Off topic alert. Apologies to the OP.

In the mid-90's I was given a tour of the HP factory where they were building HP3000's (that ran MPE, a HP proprietary OS), and HP9000's (that ran HP-UX, a Unix variant) on a single assembly line with a station at the end of the line that applied either a 3000 or 9000 plaque to the system depending on which the customer ordered. Demand was sufficient at the time that all computers were built to order. The funny thing was that a 3000 was about $40K more than the exact same 9000. I asked our salesman if he could sell us a 9000, and we'd load MPE on it, he said that would be OK, but we'd have to change the model plate, and we could take a few from the bin for free. So it pays to know exactly what you are buying, and not necessarily trust the vendor to tell you what you need to know.

We don’t move vehicles around here without checking everywhere. We have 3 little ones and about another 10 on the street that always tend to be around our place because we are at the end of the street.

Thanks for the karma I’ll shoot you an address.

A friend of mine put in about fifteen years working for a Mercedes-Benz dealer as a maintenance tech, then opened his own shop.

He was servicing my 240D and it needed a fuel injector replaced. He asked whether I wanted a Merceds-Benz part, or a Bosch part.

I asked what the difference was. He pulled two boxes off the shelf, a Bosch box and a MB box. Opened them, and removed two identical Bosch injectors, both with the same Bosch part number. There were two differences: the name on the box, and the price.

I got called to a dealer to check out a car from the plant I worked at, it was green on the driver side and gray on the passenger. Oddly the customer wasn't as amused
