Really getting tired of ramps, jacks, and jack stands. I have a rather low shop ceiling and our climate is not suited for a permanent outdoor lift. I came across the Twin Busch Scissor lift that looks to be a pretty solid product. Will lift my truck. Really does not take up any space as it would just live under the Mustang in the shop. When I need to work on the truck that does not fit in the shop, I can roll the lift outside without much hassle at all. Looks beefy Quickjack, is cheaper & mobile, can lift quite a bit on the top model, I've been eyeing one for a while. $2k for their 7k lb model with ext warranty https://www.quickjack.com/car-lifts/ Challenge for me is choosing one that can do both my Expedition Max & the Midget. I have a 4 arm scissor lift with a flat platform. It has worked for everything I've needed it for as well as other vehicles of family, friends and neighbors. The platform can be handy for small things like mowers, atv's etc. You will not be able to access everything like most transmissions depending on the design of the lift but most everything else should be fine. Looking at the design of the one you are thinking about you might be able to do trannies. Just make sure you can drop the ramp ends to have clearance for removing wheels to do tire change/brakes etc. That's what I like about my 4 arm design, total clearance for that type of work. I have done full suspensions, exhaust work, oil and brake changes, etc. The other issue is with lowered vehicles. I had to build a ramp system for my cars out of 2 x 12's. Kind of a pain having to line up the car to drive it on and sometimes may take a couple of tries as my car has a narrower front track compared to the rear. Obviously height of lift will also be limited if you have standard height ceilings. I can get pretty good height with my car, not much with a truck. Whatever type you get, you will not miss having to lay on your back for everything! Tony | |||

I had forgotten about those. Saw them years ago and thought they looked like the bridges we built out of toothpicks as kids. There's a few torture tests on them & they seem pretty sturdy for how they look. They lifted them at max capacity, then added weight to double capacity with no failure, removed the extra & lowered at max cap. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

I bought the Quickjack 5000TLX early this year to do the clutch on my Vette, and because they can handle the weight of my Jeep as well. They are very stable under load with either, and tuck away nicely in the garage when I am not using them. If you wait, they run sales on them during the year that will save you a couple hundred bucks - I bought mine around Valentines day. | |||

Why did this need to get brought up? I've been doing everything in my power to resist the urge to buy an Advantage 4 Post Lift along with their rolling air jack addition. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks… | |||

Thanks for the review. I think it'd be the 7000tlx for me, to handle my Expedition, plus the truck adapters. Still under the $3k of the OP. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

^^^I kinda like the Quick Jack 7000TLX as well. I looked at the dimensions, and it would work for all four cars I'd use it for; my '13 Volvo XC70, '10 Audi S5, '09 Volvo S60 and my '74 Pontiac Formula. Though the lower capacity Quick Jack models would work as well, I can't see NOT buying the highest capacity unit available if I'm gonna be under it! I haven't pulled the trigger though, cause I found the MaxJax M7K --> https://www.maxjax.com/ It's designed/marketed as a 'portable' two-post lift, though I'd probably leave the post nearest the wall permanently installed, and just move the opposite post over next to it, if I 'needed' full use of the garage bay. The MaxJax M7K would work in my just over 8' ceiling height of 98" garage, and by my calculations, get me at least 46" under all of my cars, which is 23.5" better than the Quick Jack 7000LTX! At $3895 it's a little over twice the price, but it's far superior and SO Damn nice! ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! I've seen those advertised as well. In my case, it's driveway work, as I don't have a garage. Not sure how those studs would hold up in an outdoor environment Plus, the storage aspect. The QJ is a much more compact storage The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

I would think the thickness of the driveway slab would be crucial to safety of putting it outside while you work. You could always cap off the inserts in the drive when not in use, pop the cap, bolt it down and work. | |||

Were I a lot younger, yeah I'd be having a scissors jack for my garage! These days all I do on my car is swap winter/summer wheels and change the oil (which I do by suctioning out the old oil). And, we are trying to simplify. In any case, I'd set up several jack stands as an emergency safety in case the scissors somehow failed. | |||

I would think most scissor type jacks have safety locks. Mine has several to cover for different heights. You then have to raise the jack a bit, step on a bar to disengage the locks then you can lower. I have a Snap On. Tony | |||
