A sympathetic article (lifestyle article) brought to you by the Washington Post. The disaffected, ignorant and misguided insurgents have been spotlighted by one of the leading left wing rags. Quite a romantic movement....but for how long? As their numbers swell, what will be the resistance? We probably saw an example this weekend. Giving any legitimacy to these pariahs is just a step in the wrong direction, but all in a day's work for WP.

Bad parenting and bad education. Those of us raised by the "Greatest Generation" have respect for the ideas and property of others and don't behave like savages. (Failure to learn those traits generally resulted in corporal punishment--something that most kids today never receive, unfortunately.) Being told that one is entitled to stuff that has not been worked for, and failure to punish theft and violence has brought us to the situation today.

I really wish people would point out the enormous amount of idiocy it takes to believe that these people are anything but communists.

Anarchy my ass. They're just leveraging violence to advance collectivism.

These people are not anarchists. They only want law and order suspended for them and them only in order to use violence as a means to an end. They want a collectivist, authoritarian, intolerant government, better known as communism.

I don't think most are that smart, just followers of something they don't really understand and for some reason think it's cool. That's why most shout slogans or chants and carry signs with generally the same message.
I doubt it will end before someone defending themselves hurts them and then it will get blamed on the person defending themselves.

Yes. That's what it is. The "Free Shit Army" is growing. They don't value anything because they haven't had to earn anything.

You are right... as far as those who lead it and those who fund it. But the average shithead on the street doesn't even know why he's there. If you ask them about the ideology, they don't have a clue. They are there because they are bored with their meaningless lives. They live in their parents basements, they don't have jobs, they don't have anything except the crumbs of a welfare state. And they are angry.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

We live in a tightly controlled, tracked, monitored, regulated social context. We have definitely given up some personal freedoms over the last couple of decades.

It does not surprise me that a small dis-affected percentage of society - given an excuse - would want to 'act out' periodically.

This has been the case for many years.

The 'hate-baiters' don't help matters.

I traveled on business this weekend through three airports - in NV, Colorado and Baltimore.

People - of all races - couldn't have been nicer / more helpful. I am not naive - but the good folks in this country still VASTLY outnumber the jack-asses.

Yes. This, hand and glove with the other comments about comminism is exact;y how Russia bacame the communist state.

The masses were fed and led by lies and empty promises, and tore down the nationalistic and true patriotism of the "old Russia".

And the "cure" that those masses sought was mcuh worse than the "disease".

Certainly, some room for argement about elitism and greed and whatnot, but if we want the best of a free market and a freedom/liberty embracing state, then we understand the bad that is permitted and will occur with the good.

And we work the "good system" and laws to deal with the bad as much as we can.

Mankind will never form a perfect society.

No matter how benevolent those offering such to us, in the end, it's always a Cookbook.

These are sad misguided people not unlike those in 60s & 70s that hated us Vietnam returning military. My perspective is less politics but more of several issues:
1. Liberal educations by faculty who NEVER worked with their hands on a real job
2. Poverty and hopelessness
3. No religious beliefs or faith in anything
4. A long term result of government handouts for decades
5. Disenchantment with the reality of life due to very poor parents
6. No motivation to expend energy to improve things
7. No respect for their fellow man & their rights
8. Unrealistic expectations and little interest in improving themselves
9. A failed political system where the two major political parties forget the people and think only of themselves
10. No unity or teamwork like we military vets learned. These folks have a glorified gang banger mentality similar to areas in the country
11. Lack of action by PC oriented Law Enforcement until too late
12. No knowledge of or sense of history
13. Lack of tolerance or understanding of others
14. Lack of socialization and group play as children (introverts on social media and video games (see the above)
I'm sure there are more reasons.

Majority of these "anarchists" don't really believe in the cause, most label themselves as such as a cover - otherwise rioter/criminals....it's fun to riot when there aren't any consequences.

CPTKILLER, I think you are right on with all 14 points you make.

On the political side, I would just add that they don't understand the ideology.

They know what they are against, but they don't know what they are for.
They are against every "ism" that they think is bad including racism, sexism, and most of all: capitalism. They see inequality everywhere, because not everyone has equal outcomes and they are told that it is because of racism, sexism, and most of all: capitalism.

But they haven't thought it through. They are sold the false promise that everyone should and would be equal if they topple the "system" of government our founders set up. They really don't understand that socialism/communism just destroys everything in its' path leaving the few in power and in control of the masses, most of whom literally go hungry.

In other words, they are "useful idiots" until they are no longer needed. Then they are cannon fodder.

CPTKILLER - great list.

As I read those - I see that 'destruction of the nuclear family' ie a two-parent, married home environment as a cause of a lot of those.

Again - brought to use courtesy of the Liberal platform.

I'm sure there are more reasons.
Comments?

#1. Yes but it depends on the individual. My daughter is a year away from college and wants to get a language degree. Useless IMO but she has a job now and has for over a year and she works with her hands.
#2. This in spades. The Mahoning Valley area where I live is wrought with poverty and hopelessness. This is why the drug problem, namely heroin, is rampant.
#3. I'm torn on the religious thing. I'm an agnostic but I have never pushed my beliefs on anyone including my daughter. She used to go to church with her Mom every Sunday. Now she is basically an atheist. Not sure what triggered this but it's her belief.
#4. I was on unemployment for a month once when Kraftmaid shut their plant down in West Jordan, Utah. I found another job and stopped the unemployment. I have seen welfare passed from family to family though, so yes this is part of it.
#5. Very true. I have tried to raise my daughter the best I can. I have had custody of her for almost 4 years now. It's tough and this ties in with #14.
#6. True and this bothers me. I keep my house clean and when I see my daughter's bedroom, I shiver. It's not total chaos but it's not clean like the rest of the house. I get on her ass about it and she cleans it. Why would you want to be messy like that and not improve your surroundings?
#7. This is a two-way street. Show respect and it's given in return. Rights are a different story. I believe in every person's rights.
#8. This ties in with #6.
#9. I hate politics. I don't talk about them or get near them but this statement is true.
#10. True. People wonder why I do what I do at work and at home. It's not just unity and teamwork either. It's a sense if doing it right. The 1st time. It's order. Those who were in basic training, remember the chalkboard with how to arrange your foot locker? Same thing applied to life.
#11. I respect LE. I really can't and won't comment.
#12. Education in this country has shifted from teaching to making sure students pass their profiency tests for the grade they're in. History, English, math and so on.
#13. I don't think there will ever be tolerance or understanding. People fear what they don't understand and even if they do understand, it's different and therefore backwards to what they know.
#14. I think most kids are socialized but then things happen when they get older that affects them. Throughout the 70's, I played outside almost every day. We didn't have cell phones, computers, Ipads and so on. Now, you can't pry a cell phone from some people's hands and this includes adults. They don't want to go outside, they'd rather be on multiple social media sites. I've said it before, this forum and 2 others is as far as I go on social media. Facebook? Nope. Twitter? Nope. None of them. From my standpoint, they're evil and corrupt people of all ages.
I'll add my own.
- most people are followers. They don't have enough self confidence to do their own thing or think for themselves. Enter the dominant person. Could be KKK, antifa or whatever. They look up to them. They're showing them a way. They latch on and it's over. I saw it happen with a person I used to call a friend. He's now a white supremacist and I won't have anything to do with him.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Bologna.

Fewer and fewer people believe every single day, of all political stripes. And every single atheist and agnostic I know believes in all of the same things the most god fearing person does - save one - the particular supernatural god you still believe in. They believe in love, family, country, friends, hard work, the golden rule - without the god component, and everything else that actually matters and actually affects everyday life here on Earth.

The notion that the rejection of one more god (after all - you reject the hordes of others, too, like Odin and Isis and Zeus and Ra and the Spaghetti Monster and the like) makes atheists crazy or devoid of the rest is absurd. We're much more alike than different.
