I've been using a Stihl MS 250 with 16" & 18" bars for years now as my main firewood saw. It's a nice, light homeowner saw but can struggle at times on larger logs. For them I have a 60cc Echo with a 20" bar but I don't use it much because it's noticeably heavier.

This new MS 261 C-M is replacing both gas saws. It's a 50cc 4hp Pro saw with 18" and 20" bars. Here it is still brand new and shiny. Big Grin

That's a real saw right there. Congrats.

You will be happy with the 261.. The 18" bar is a good fit.

My go-to saw is my ported MS361 with a custom muffler.. It stacks piles of chips, and out saws my buddy's Farm Boss 2 to 1.
Although I will say that I LOVE a top-handle arborist saw for trail clearing and trimming.. It's always in my side x side.

Looks good! I've seriously been thinking about upgrading my own! I've always used older chainsaws that don't run well and have issues! You might be tempting me to pull the trigger!

Looks like a nice saw with good power. I too have been thinking about an upgrade for my smaller 12 year old Stihl.

I have a MS361 and love it. I was told my a Stihl repair guy that I should modify the exhaust, but if I do he can not work on it since he is a Stihl repair guy.

Still need to do so but plan to do so.

I have a couple of MS261s but not the CM version. For years, I only bought my crew trimming saws like the MS201 and large saws like the MS462 and MS660. They were super happy to get a mid weight saw and it is usually the first saw they grab for ground work. If you are going to buy a saw, get one from the professional line.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to like it and can't wait to put it to work. It weighs almost the same as my smaller MS250.

LOL the one behind it is a battery saw I use for small jobs and carry in the SxS.

I imagine a little top handle saw could be handy, I've never used one though. For firewood and the occasional fallen limbs or trees I think the MSA 200 battery and this new one should have me covered.
