Anyone have a reliable Caller ID app (iPhone)? I was happy with "True Caller" but they recently did some kind of change and now it's pretty much worthless. Or I haven't figured out the new methodology. Thanks. Caller ID is pretty much useless for scam calls, and they create their own ID. I have found the regular VZ caller ID to work well. What does an app give you extra that is reliable information? | |||

Hiya sends suspected spam or scammers to voicemail so it doesn’t ring on my end. I’ve been using it for about a year and couldn’t tell you the last time I got a spammer/scammer phone call | |||

The Telemarketing systems change up their numbers and can even grab your local exchange, to make you think it's a local caller. Maybe that why they are creating new area codes, again. _________________________ | |||

Suspected spam or scammers get sent to voicemail for me too. I just don't answer them.  If they happen to be legitimate callers whose number I just don't recognize (vs scammers/spammers), they will leave a voicemail if they really want to talk to me. I also have a couple of pre-scripted text responses I can send the caller. One says I don't recognize your number, so please text or voice mail. | |||

I second this. I have a real Dell service contract and I got a call that showed up as the Dell service number that I have on my phone. But the call I got was one of those "your computer has been sending out some virus signal and we need you to turn on your computer BS." I called Dell afterwards and they said scammers can spoof their phone numbers. I know when Dell calls, they make an appointment first. My next door neighbor texted me to ask why I had caller her two times. Her caller ID showed my name with the number because she has me in her Contacts. Spoofing local exchanges has become a big thing. Our local VZ exchange is 928-231. They just cycle through random last four digits with their caller device. It happened to come up with my number when it called my neighbor. | |||

I took a spam call because it had the number of one of my contacts. Wish they could find these people and drop them in the ocean. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you. | |||

If you have an iPhone, the MrNumber app works really well at flagging potential spam and blocking. You control the settings on how aggressive it is. Just installed Hiya. It attached a company name to a couple of prior unknown callers. It didn't put a name on the NRA fundraising call I got today from (844) 469-4647. | |||
