4x5In-state tuition and residency
My kids have lived in Utah their entire lives, and my two oldest are now going to college. My second oldest daughter was awarded a good scholarship to a state university, and will be starting this fall. The problem is, I might have an opportunity to take a new position out of state, and I'm wondering what effect that would have on my daughters residency? Would she then be required to pay out of state tuition? I realize it's probably different for each state, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with something like this?

TXJIMI would think that once residency is established as an incoming freshman it's pretty much a non-issue. I don't see them asking to prove residency every semester once you are in the system.

tannerHow far away out of state? I know many state universities out here in the west share a reciporicity agreement that allows the student to pay in-state tuition even though they are technically a resident of another.

GustoferShouldn't effect it at all. As long as she remains in UT and claims residency she should be good to go. You might check with her financial aid office to be sure, but I can't imagine it would be an issue.

rduckworTypically, residency is established by high school graduation location. Good luck.

Part time job to be able to show income coming from within the state. Already assuming she has a Utah DL
