Technically, that's a "boom stick".
No, a bang stick.

bubbatimeThe Roku is almost universally favored over the fire stick by most. Better user interface.
Unless she absolutely wants a firestick for jail break and other software reasons, she might prefer the Roku. Ask.
TONS of free content on these devices. If she is young, the young kids pass around the passwords so she will likely have access to Netflix and Amazon Prime and Disney Plus and any of the other hundreds of streaming apps for free, from her friends.

The Roku is more popular, true, but "better UI?" In what way(s)?
Admittedly, I haven't used a Roku since our Roku 2, but, between Roku, Android TV, Fire TV and Apple TV: The UIs have been pretty much a wash. None of them any "better" than the others. Just a bit different.
In fact: In a way, the Roku was one of the worst for us. We use universal IR remotes. Roku has a "*" key on their proprietary non-IR remote. You
need that key for certain operations. I had a heckuva time finding a remote that had the code for that in its library so I could teach it to our learning remotes, which did not.

Appliance BradAn unmentioned question is who her family internet provider is and are there any bandwith caps?
We get our internet via an ATT device that uses cell service. It will stream music or video with no issues BUT we get dinged for every 10Gb over 40. Just us two old farts in the house and no grandchildren. We might watch a streamed movie a month because they eat up our data included with our plan.
Don't want to be surprising mom or Dad with a big unexpected bill. Or yourself.
