I met my Dad today for a homeschool co-op science fair thing with my kids and spotted this sticker on his truck:

He said he found it from a Jewish guy who had gottten into guns and had subsequently gotten disowned by a lot of his friends and family over it:

I showed it to a friend of mine too, age 48-49 and he too didn't get it. I got it within .003 seconds.

A little baffling that someone would not pick up on that pretty fast?

History is lost on soooo many people.
I think intentionally. They are being dumbed down.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I get the reference and meaning. But while at OCS at Quantico in the 80s we were frequently transported for training from the base out into the boondocks and back in cattle cars. And we all had ARs.

So, for me at least, the sticker doesn't really apply I guess.

I too understood the reference immediately. Those who don't are likely to ask "where's the first class section?" when mounting the cattle car.

Yeah. That'd be great! But actually the asterisk should say "unless you were a Marine at OCS in the 80s, then you had to unless you wanted to walk 20+ miles"

Thanks!

No. We don’t. And no one else will have to either as long as I have ammunition.

It sure seems that way, doesn't it?

I've probably told this story here before, but...

A few years back a couple young men approached me while I was out mowing the lawn. When I found they were campaigning for one-or-another Democrat I politely told them "I won't waste your time. I wouldn't vote for a Democrat on a bet, and I'm a liberal." They were obviously taken aback. One asked why. "Well, because today's Democrat party supports <this>, <that>, and <this other thing>."

They seemed confused, so I explained.

One of the points upon which they were confused was the Electoral College. Not only did they not understand why it was originally created and why it was still relevant, but they also didn't understand it was in the U.S. Constitution and what it would take to eliminate it.

After explaining a couple other things like the above I said "You didn't appear to know these things." They admitted they hadn't. "I learned this stuff in high school, 50 years ago."

They were college freshmen.

It took me a few seconds to make the connection.

At first I thought it was a put down to AR owners. Then I thought it was a snooty AR owner not wanting to go economy or cattle car from my POV.

Then it hit me. Just like the time I was wondering why the ball I was looking at kept getting bigger.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Guess he didn’t know many JDL members.
Growing up, I knew many survivors.
They would never speak of what they’d been through… some only children at the time.

And many didn’t go into the cattle cars as well.
Good friend of the family, Tanja (rest her soul) was a Hungarian Jew and fierce partisan.
I will not mention full names, she was tough.

She only opened up, explained the things they had done when we sat getting drunk on dandelion wine one afternoon on the farm.

She was there to pick up some string beans we had planted.
Somehow that turned into derailing trains and killing Germans… as well as sneaking up to the “cattle cars” and offering food… all the while being shot at.
