You guys not into Russian vodka or caviar, huh?
Nope, the only thing I have used from the russians (that I know of) is some of their ammo and it is shit and burns dirty.

AglifterAfter the end of the Cold War, we should have buried them in “kindness” AKA market forces.
They are an evil culture, and it has to be destroyed - but that will not happen by isolating them.
Flood them, tie them into the world trade structure, steal their ambitious youth, etc.

HRKIf you want a good look at the eastern Russian infrastructure, watch the episodes of Long Way Round where Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman are riding BMW's through Russia, in some areas there are nothing but sand roads, in eastern Russian it's darn near impassable with out a military 4wd truck....
They had to load both BWM bikes on a Kamaz truck.
Not sure what they'd drive through that tunnel or why we'd want Russia to have direct access to Alaska via tunnel...

AglifterWell trains, presumably- but for liability and labor reasons it probably makes sense to move them to U.S. standard trains in the Russian side.

Carpentermaass84I can actually see this being done at 8 billion and on a reasonable timeline. Russia already uses North Korean labor for logging and mining so why not use them for a large scale building project? Western firms can handle operating the technical details and heavy machinery but we can offload a lot of the costs and risks on North Korean labor.
The only way we stand to compete with China is if we play on their level... no unions, miles of red tape, etc.
