That's over 38,000 / year. Still has the original engine & trans. She's had a lot of service out of that little car. "I plan to keep driving it until the engine falls out on the highway." I sure hope I'm not behind her when that happens. ... stirred anti-clockwise.

One of the best cars I ever had was a second gen Corolla with the little 1150cc motor. Could not kill that car, the engine and transmission were built to last. Eventually, the frame and body rusted so much I had to get rid of it at about 160,000 miles. .

I bet the little Rav4 will be the next Toyota model to achieve the high mileage milestone. Entering the frey is Carolla Cross now. A baby SUV. A few days back I saw a imported Toyota Crown at McDonalds. The driver imported that nice old car and was seated at opposite side steering. The car was beautiful. The Crown is back now as well, albeit a modern version.

“I’d never owned a Toyota before, but I’ll tell you what, this little ride’s pretty well sold me.” Pretty well? Wonder how many miles before she's fully convinced? Icarus flew too close to the sun, but at least he flew.

I drove a GEO which is a Carolla and that little car never gave me a issue. Simplistic and a few minor things could be done on the car that did not require tools.

My 1st gen Tundra had 500,000 miles on the clock when I sold it. It easily had another 500,000 left in her but I wanted to upgrade. If you maintain them as suggested, they'll last forever. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

my 2000 Tundra has about 208000 on it now, but it has not been my daily driver in about 8 yrs, brined roads will kill it before I get another 208000 on it, a good friend had a basic model 2wd pickup, wanna say a 94 vintage, and it had 398K on it when he finally broke down and sold it, it was running fine, but he found a guy that was a mechanic, and wanted it for his son to learn the basics on (valve adjustment etc) and how to keep it running, as far as I know,, it still is, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Today in town I was next to the new Toyota Crown, a black one. It has nice lines and looks smaller than Camry and Avalon. I would like to get a better look at one parked.

My curiosity got me going this morning about the Carolla. It was introduced late 1966. I owned a 1982. There was a 1970 for sale in Greece. A 1976 in Atlanta. On line, I cannot find any of the first year for sale. I located my 1982 sitting in a field. It had sat for years. The red paint looked like it was applied with a paint roller. I bought it for little. It shimmied at idle when I first got it running.I drove the thing over into the mountains of Eastern New York State to go fishing. When the day was done, I drove home having left my very nice, fully loaded tackle box atop the car never to be seen again. In time the car was traded for a bench mount drill press. Months later the Carollas frame broke from rusting. It was the most plain wrapper little car I ever owned. Today's Carolla is a luxury car by comparison.

I had an 84 Corolla SR5 coupe 5sp I abused for years. Ran retreaded stud snow tires for 5 yrs. Pretended it was a rally car when I lived 26 miles down a dirt forest service road from the closest town. I traded it in on a 95 Bronco XLT with I figure over 400k miles (odometer had been broken since 180k Only issues I had with it was I burned up a transmission up driving it 1 footed while my lower left leg was in a cast and didn’t have the space to depress the clutch. My fault. Also the bushings in the distributor wore out not allowing magnetic connections for spark…. Just wear ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever
