For a couple of years now, I've watched OttoSig's signature line with a tiny hint of envy.
I talked to my retirement guy yesterday, and I'm tempted to mimic Mr. Otto: "11 years to retirement! Just waiting!"
(Well, 11 years and 6 days, but who's really counting that closely, eh?)

Hang in there.
I'm a year into retirement after working for 52 years. It's great.

Congrats to all you retired folks! Barring any game changers, I'm looking at 5 more years until I retire.

Oh man, that’s just agony starting to count with that much time left.
I started counting with 5 years to go and even then it seemed to take too long.
Hang in there though, I’m 159 days retired as of today and I’ve enjoyed every one of them!

Careful what you wish for. I was there once too. Then one day you wake up, you're old enough and saved enough pennies but you're body is older too. I've been fortunate to still be in good health unlike many others but it has a weird feeling to it. Not a bad feeling at all, just different than the way I thought I'd feel about being able to do pretty much anything each day.
3 1/2 years to go for me to 67. Counting the days. Unfortunately the rules for retiring with Texas State Retirement health insurance changed a few weeks before I was hired and I would have to work until 70 to have the insurance. Don’t think I can do that. Sure would save me a lot of money though.

Planned to retire at 70 which would be 04/25. But, the wife isn't ready to retire yet and we lost both of our handsome Boxer boys 16 days apart in November and now I’m thinking just F’ it. I guess I’ll work till I drop.

I’m not retiring again. It would probably kill me. I retired from high tech and am now self employed farming, working harder than I did in high tech. Think I’ll just stick with this.

April of 2028 I will be 70. Gonna twist it off from having to be someplace on someone else's schedule at that point

My eligible to retire date was 5/4/2023. I'm still working. Like hray, I'm in drop. Not sure if I will do the minimum 5 years or the full 8 years. Promotional coming up in a year as well, not sure if I will take it. If I do, I'm on nights the rest of my career. I'm on nights now. If I don't take the promotional, I will go to dayshift.

What scares me to death, honestly, is that I hear my manager wants to retire within a year or so. He's got a lot to teach us before he bails!
I'll have to work in retirement, I'm sure. Truth is, I like my job and my peeps a lot. I won't mind hanging around them some more.
God bless America.

Or... like me- retired last January. Got a call from my old boss in August making me an offer I couldn't refuse, and then coming OUT of retirement. At 67 I still have plenty of tread left, the job is easy, I work from home and I can goof around as much as I want so long as I get 8 hours worth of work in. I start anywhere from 4-6am so I'm done between 2 or 3pm with 2 or 3 hours of goofing around in between.
