Haveme1or2Outdoor lighting that doesn't break when damp
I'm having a problem with the OD halogen bulbs breaking with the moisture in the air.
On the corners of my house the wind blows the rain on the hot glass, the bulbs break.
The only thing I've found is the flood bulbs but they are so heavy the fixtures soon give way and droop the bulbs.

jcsabolt2We had a similar issue with the lights mounted on our garage. I replaced the standard bulbs with LEDs and have not had an issue yet. They have been running for 2 years. I was lucky to get 6 months out of the others.

ryan81986Are they 120v or 12v landscape lights?
Either way there should be led replacements for it.

95flhrI've gone with LEDs and they have been performing pretty well for the last few years.
I'm using these

These I have have the prongs on the bulbs, not screw in.

I'll sure take a look at these.
Thank you

tsmccullI’d like to find led floodlight bulbs that will screw into my existing undereave fixtures (120V) and actually generate enough light to illuminate our yard. Ads with specs promoting 1500 lumens don’t cut it since that’s less light than a 100W incandescent bulb generates. My halogen bulbs provide something like 3 or 4 thousand lumens, but they’re burning out and finding more is becoming difficult. If anyone has a source for BRIGHT exterior led outdoor PAR floodlights, I’d appreciate the information. Thanks.

ryan81986Lumens can be deceiving, especially for home bulbs. At least in my experience.
These bulbs are pricey but seem to have good reviews, check out some of the others and read the reviews, you may find what you're looking for.

ensigmaticAfter buying yet another disappointing Heath/Zenith halogen fixture, then a second, I finally submitted to the Sigforum Oracle's wisdom and bought a
RAB STL200HW fixture and a pair of CREE PAR38 1500 lumen LED bulbs.
The thing adequately lit the area I wanted and the motion sensing was the best I'd ever experienced. Catches any reasonable movement anywhere, and never falses on wind-blown trees or bushes.
One-by-one I've replaced
every crappy Heath/Zenith halogen fixture with those RAB fixtures, and whatever 1300-1500 lumen LED bulbs I could find at a good price.
I'll try to remember to take a photo of the back yard tonight, with all three fixtures running. I run them often, because all three fixtures running consumes a mere 100W or so.
Btw: Crappy as those Heath/Zenith fixtures were (my main complaint was their motion-sensing sucked), they never fried halogen bulbs from the rain hitting them.

I put a Utilitec LED fixture in my unheated garage. Once the temperature dipped below 30°F it stopped working and never came back in warmer weather. I don't trust them for outdoor use. Warmer areas may be fine.
