I'm helping my adult daughter keep her 2009 Honda Fit in working condition by doing the maintenance on schedule and using good parts.

Now at 100K, I've got to replace the replace the front rotors. At 75K miles, I had the OEM rotors turned and used Akebono pads.

If I go back to Honda parts, I'm looking at $300 in parts. If I use ACKOJA rotors (owned by a German outfit, but likely made in China) and Akebono pads, I'm just under $200 on Rockauto.

I'm tempted by the various rotor/pad kits for $70-90 for the front axles (PowerStop, R1, Raybestos, Centric) from Rockauto.

Has anyone had good results with these kits?

Yes I have bought rotors and pads from them, you just need to decide what level you want from budget to premium for the vehicle.

Everything was shipped on time and arrived unscathed.

Never had any problems with RockAuto.

Coworker [2016 Colorado w/ 186k on it] actually bought his last set of pads/rotors on Amazon.
I was skeptical, but they looked like a decent kit when we installed them.

I’ve never had a problem with Rockauto itself.

I put a Raybestos kit front and rear on the Odyssey with good results. I think it was called Element 3 or something like that.

I put Powerstop kits front and rear on the F350 and the pads started separating from their backing plate. Powerstop sent me new pads, but I bought and installed Raybestos instead. The Powerstop rotors are holing up though.

Like HRK said though, you pick the level of quality you want. Powerstop were supposed to be premium. The problem with asking people about their experiences is that those experiences may not be directly transferable to your application. I mean how applicable is that Powerstop pad failure on my F350 towing a 14,500lb 5th wheel to your daughter’s Honda Fit?

Just make sure you plan to use whatever you order pretty soon. I often buy stuff long in advance so my order is big enough to get free shipping. I've had Rock Auto send me the wrong stuff before, but I didn't notice it until after the return period and I had to eat it.

I have Amazon Prime and you can get a lot of parts there too and get the free shipping, which is nice for heavy brake parts.

I've bought some stuff on Amazon but have been told that lots of the auto parts are fake, China copies Champion and AC plugs etc. Goes for other things non auto too..

Unless Amazon is the seller, I won’t buy auto parts from Amazon. Now cheap Chinese HAM radios are a different story.

I usually get the ‘Ray Bestos’ parts, or the near equivalent.

Yes. Good to go.

My understanding about Rock Auto is they work with manufacturers and wholesalers, then send the part order to that facility who fills it.

RockAuto has no parts warehouses, and inventories nothing. They are an order aggregator, they have accumulated parts lists sorted by car/use just like your local Advance/PepBoys/AutoZone store but they have everything that works for that application and you can choose the part(s) you like.

Basically a direct to consumer order system.

Thanks all for the input. I'm a Rockauto fanboi and have purchased tons of stuff from them, but never these rotor/pad combo kits.

I'm placed an order for the Centric and will see how it goes. For $105 total, if she gets 10-15K miles, I won't be disappointed.

Centric are decent.

Akebono are top notch and still made in the US. Very few rotors are made in the US anymore.

I live RockAuto and keep an eye on their warehouse closeouts.
Just snagged Akebono pads for the Tundra for $33 usually $70

Haven't tried them, but they do have the 15" rotors that my truck needs in stock. Most don't.

I use Rockauto for everything that isn't an absolute emergency. I'm pretty sure I've tried those brands. I've never had a problem with anything I've ordered from them, provided I ordered the right thing.

The pads and rotors themselves will matter. Rockauto has a huge inventory, from cheaper to better to excellent parts.

I use Rockauto for all parts, but I also check my local NAPA store. Last time I did brakes my NAPA store was cheaper for the same parts, and they had them in stock.

The best thing about Rockauto is that for most things they carry OEM parts, so you can get the real deal without getting raped by the dealer on markup, or rolling the dice on some remanned parts store brand. They have a huge selection, so you have to know what you're looking for and not just buy the cheapest thing on the list.

Used Rockauto for years. Recently though, I bought a bad water pump from them. Leaked water immediately. Cost me over 700.00 to have it replace again because I couldn’t get to it and finish moving in time. Rockauto offer no compensation. It was a premium level part that I bought from them.

They had a wrong part listed for Mrs. Lee's MB GLA250. But then every other parts supplier showed the same part and it absolutely was the wrong part. I ended up pulling the OEM air filter off the car and just ordering one with the same part number and that worked. Not sure if they've corrected that was the part was not even close to fitting.
