Unbelievable...
Museum removes Egyptian mummies from display... because it 'doesn't have consent from the deceased individual' https://www.dailymail.com/news...did-not-consent.html"Bosses at one of Scotland’s most popular museums are at the centre of a ‘woke’ row after removing mummies from display because of a lack of ‘informed consent from the deceased individual’.
Glasgow Life, an arm’s-length charitable organisation funded by SNP-run Glasgow City Council, said a mummified male head was among the items removed at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
The changes came to light after a visitor posted an image on X of a sign at the museum stating: ‘We have removed human remains from this display as a mark of respect.’
Glasgow Life chiefs said ‘human remains’ would no longer be on show as this ‘reflects contemporary museum practice’.
Condemning the move, Scottish Tory culture spokesman Murdo Fraser said: ‘This is woke madness at its most ridiculous.
‘Even Egyptian mummies are now being cancelled by a society so obsessed with modern sensibilities that it has lost all sense of perspective.
‘People visit museums to learn about ancient civilisations, not to see history hidden away because it fails to meet today’s ideological standards..."

GeorgeairThankfully Baby John has already been confiscated and buried.
Man's Mummified Baby Must Be Buried quote:
A judge is ordering a Concord man to put an unusual family heirloom to rest.
Judge Richard Hampe said a mummified baby passed down for 90 years through Charles Peavey's family must be buried because there is no DNA evidence proving kinship.
Peavey said Wednesday his family is disappointed, but will not appeal the decision.
"I'm just washing my hands of it," Peavey told The Concord Monitor's Annmarie Timmins. He said he can't afford the DNA tests needed to prove the remains are related.
Authorities became aware of the mummified infant, known in Peavey's family as "Baby John," in April 2006 after Peavey's niece told day care staff her uncle kept a dead baby in his home. Peavey had kept Baby John on a bureau in his home.
Authorities confiscated the mummy, which Peavey's family believes to be a relative's stillborn child. Relatives and friends treated the mummy as a part of the family, giving it cards during holidays and even a dried pet fish.
Tests determined that the baby likely died of natural causes, not foul play, at birth or shortly after, and that the remains are decades old.
Anybody gives me shit about still having a dog in an urn, I just point them this way.....

jed7s9bThat would have been the fate of artifacts like this if they’d been left behind.

eclaytonSince Scotland has gone full stupid, I guess the appropriate culturally sensitive thing to do next would be to return all their Egyptian artifacts back to Egypt where they were "stolen" from. Egyptian authorities clamor for that incessantly and would be all too happy to take them back.
