Police struggle to stop flood of firearms into UK
Senior officer warns supply of guns has increased in the past year and will continue to do so in 2019
Police and border officials are struggling to stop a rising supply of illegal firearms being smuggled into Britain, a senior police chief has warned.
Chief constable Andy Cooke, the national police lead for serious and organised crime, said law enforcement had seen an increased supply of guns over the past year, and feared that it would continue in 2019.
The Guardian has learned that the situation is so serious that the National Crime Agency has taken the rare step of using its legal powers to direct every single police force to step up the fight against illegal guns.
The NCA has used tasking powers to direct greater intelligence about firearms to be gathered by all 43 forces in England and Wales.
Another senior law enforcement official said that “new and clean” weapons were now being used in the majority of shootings, as opposed to guns once being so difficult to obtain that they would be “rented out” to be used in multiple crimes.
Cooke, the Merseyside chief constable, told the Guardian: “We in law enforcement expect the rise in new firearms to continue. We are doing all we can. We are not in a position to stop it anytime soon.
“Law enforcement is more joined up now than before, but the scale of the problem is such that despite a number of excellent firearms seizures, I expect the rise in supply to be a continuing issue.”

VoshterkoffI hope it's the white British that are sick of being on their own. Any dusty AR-18s up north that need a cause?

The gullible are easily duped into relying on government. The weak and the brainwashed will continue to submit. Giving up their ability to defend themselves was just a part of the bigger problem of a lack of self-reliance.
We are fortunate in the US to have a strong tradition of "rugged individualism". It's slowly slipping away, but about half of the people here still believe in individualism over collectivism.
In Europe, I see this "yellow vest" movement as a hopeful sign of a re-awakening. When societies head down the path of socialism/communism it usually leads to complete societal destruction before a new beginning.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

LOL The UK is a joke, ANY guns are pretty much illegal and even if you had a legal one you can't use it to defend yourself anyway.

TubetoneHow many buyers are fearful citizens?
Making guns illegal in a dangerous environment leads to an underground.
Maybe the government doesn't speak for the people.
“Mayor Gianluca Buonanno of Borgosesia in Piedmont in northern Italy has offered 250 Euros apiece to citizens to help them pay for a gun,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This is no tongue-in-cheek joke, either. The mayor has made that offer after accusing the Italian government of failing to protect honest citizens with laws that seem soft on bad guys.” LINK Italian LinkMaking average people criminals for speaking their minds or wanting to protect themselves seems to be what the UK is aiming to produce.
France, too.
What's that old saw,
Never give an order that you know will not be obeyed because it only weakens your own authority?

FN in MTMaybe my experience was an isolated incident, but I found many of the Brit's I spoke with to have a very strange attitude regarding firearms.
When we were visiting Britain we stayed at mostly B&B's. We met other travelers as well as our hosts.
When I was asked my job and replied I was a Cop the usual reaction was , "Do You carry a gun" ? Or even, "How can You stand to HAVE to carry a gun"?
I tried to get into an intelligent discourse with these folks regarding US Gun Rights usually to no avail.
I was IN a gun shop in Scotland and was showing the Clerk a few shots of the whitetail and elk I had shot that previous year on my phone. There was a shot of all six of my AR's leaning up against a wall. He got all nervous and didn't want to even LOOK at my "assault rifles".
Maybe after the last big weapon confiscations and an influx of violent immigrants, their attitudes are changing?
