Looking at building a 2nd set of speakers. For the upstairs playroom/office/movie room.

First ones I built were the Overnight Sensations MTM. Thought I would go a little larger on these.

I'm looking at the TriTrix MTM TL

It's going to be for occasional movie watching or throwing Pandora on the TV while I work. Anyone have a suggestion for a plain Jane amp I can hook up to the TV for a audio in. Sole purpose will be just to run the speakers.

I thought about a mini amp kinda like this one: Dayton Audio DTA-120 Class T Mini Amplifier 60 WPC

Anyway I'm just brainstorming. What say the forum?

You're looking at the right place. I live by their retail store and am there frequently. Great prices. I'd be tempted to spend $25 more, and get the Dayton "APA102 Class D Stereo 60 WPC Amplifier Auto On." More wattage and likely a beefier power supply. The little one would be good for bookshelf or computer speakers, but might not have the power to drive those bigger speakers you intend to build.

If size is not an issue and you do not have a 4K tv, you can find Used non-4K Denon receivers for $100 on eBay. Something like an AVR590.

Well it is a 4K TV. If that matters.

It can still be done with the old type receiver if you do not plan on adding rear/center surrounds. You just use the optical output from the tv if it has one.

The drawback is they are obviously quite large.

It's a pretty small - Medium sized room. I hadn't planned on doing surrounds as of right now. Just a LR and maybe.. a center later on.
