M1GarandyLooking for a new square griddle, what do I want?
Our close to 20 year old Calphalon griddle AKA "the grilled cheese pan" has exceeded it's useful life and needs replacement.
I'd like something that is:
11"x11" or so with a decent handle
flat cooking surface not ridged
made in America or Europe ideally (no China please)
preferably no Teflon/PTFE but nonstick if possible
What am I looking for?
Thanks

P250UA5Lodge, I've got a big reversible griddle that works great, covers 2 burners on my stove. Mostly used for pancakes
Pretty sure they're all USA made
This one is 10.5"

Lodge makes a square flat griddle, too. But it doesnt have a long handle, just a thin side bar.
Also a 10.5"

Those are pans, not griddles. And OP said:
“flat cooking surface not ridged“

I’ve never seen a curved football field.

If you have ever marched on a real college field you will be amazed at the curvature. The longitudinal centerline is much higher than the sidelines. Drainage.
At UT Knoxville one year I looked across from sideline to the other sideline and couldn’t see the feet of the band members there.

I’ve had this very griddle for 20 years.
It’s been amazing.

I have the round griddle which, I believe has a slightly lower rim making for easier egg flipping.

I've never heard of that brand. Know anything about it or have personal experience with their products?

I'm keeping the Lodge as an option in my back pocket if I can't find anything lighter. Love my cast iron, but it isn't light. Shorter sides wouldn't be a bad thing either.

This one looks interesting:
https://swissdiamond.com/produ...-griddle-induction-2 I did a bunch of reading on their website and I can't seem to figure out what the carrier for their diamond coating is.
January 17, 2026, 03:46 PM
M1GarandyA guy at work recommended Scanpan, but looks like their proprietary coating is Teflon based so that is a no go.
Anyone aware of a nitrided or carbon steel option?
