A friend of mine who is in the phone 'biz told me that the solution exists for this, they just aren't implementing it.

Not my area of expertise, but apparently the internet once had similar troubles-- Web sites claiming to be something they were not. So they started SSL/TLS "digital certificates" to assure that nothing was being spoofed.

Apparently the phone companies can do the same certificate thing which would stop the spoof numbers when they enter the network, but for some reason or another they choose not to. Not sure if that was just for VOIP or in general, since it was a short conversation. But since most of the scammers enter the phone network via VOIP it would be a huge step forward.

So apparently the solution exists, just not being used.

If some one knows how to route these spam calls to another spam caller please let me know how to do this.
It would be so satisfying to create a daisy chain of these ass hats annoying each other instead of us.

Probably find that these bastards are protected by law, and I'd get in trouble for it.
Par for the course.

Your system wouldn’t help my situation. I get 20 calls a day all from different numbers. I can block them all and report as spam. But they don’t use the same number so blocking is useless.

These go to eleven.

I’m sitting here wondering how many junk spam phone calls are received by 202-456-1111 and 202-456-1414 every day?

BTW those two numbers are of the White House in Washington DC. Public Record. Yep, The White House.

I’ll just about bet they have some sort of system to filter out junk calls. Or maybe not.

I'm with verizon and my plan comers with a spam filter that ID's some but not all spam calls. I never answer the phone unless I recognize the number and if I get repeat calls from the same number and no message is left on voicemail I block the number.

They never call from the same number. In fact, they aren't even calling from those numbers. Those numbers are just the ones that post as an incoming call. So "blocking" does nothing unless it's your ex-girlfriend's cell phone.

If you have AT&T get call protect. It has eliminated 99% of bullshit calls. I turned it off one day out of curiosity and got more than 20 spam calls in a day. I would be in favor of public hangings for those spam callers.

As others have said, simply do not answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Let them go to voicemail. If it's important, you'll have a voicemail to listen to and to respond to if you choose.

When I get a call and no voicemail is left, I block that number.

If I were king, I'd lop the heads off of every scammer son of a bitch under my rule. Short of that, my feeling is that screening all calls and reacting in the manner I've described is the most effective way to deal with these bothersome insects.

I can't stop them from coming in in the first place, but I deal with them by having ringtones for friends/family, business associates, and everything else (the original default one). The latter calls are not even picked up.

Yup, this is the only way to deal with it. It's just annoying seeing my phone light up constantly. So I will vote for you as king next chance I get because I like your policy ideas.

These go to eleven.

Wait.. We get to vote for King? I didn't know that. And the King can lop the head of scammers and nuisance callers! Sounds like a great idea.
