Earlier this week, Dick’s Sporting Goods announced that they would be removing hunting products from 10 of its stores this year. This comes on the heels of reports that second quarter sales at the big-box sporting goods retailer were lower than expected, prompting stock in the company to plummet by more than nine percent.
In the wake of the Parkland shooting, Dick’s announced that it would remove all modern sporting rifles from its shelves, as reported by Forbes. Instead of returning them to their manufacturers or selling them to other retailers, Dick’s opted to destroy the firearms.

Dick’s was expelled from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) as one of its 13,000 retailers.

Earlier this year, they blamed the stock and sales drop on Under Armour. Now, they admit it was AR15 related, but they’re doubling down on stupid anyway.

I go to a gym 2-3 days a week. I can assure the dicks of Dick's that I spend more per year on shooting related items than fashionable workout gear.

I have not stepped foot into one of their stores for quite awhile now.

And I cannot say what Macy's policy is on UnderArmor but Kohl's will not allow any of the "special offers" such as "Kohl's Cash", discount coupons or the free cash given as a "gift" for customer credit card anniversaries et al. So thel limit how much discounting is done on those.

I'm sure they'll make up for it by selling a few more soccer balls. Morons.

It’s ironic- Dicks acquired the bankrupt Sports Authority franchise, and through poor management and decision making seem to be headed down the same road. Kudos, imbeciles.

They seem to be going down the same path that ended up with The Sports Authority going under, one bad decision after another.

I am literally at this moment watching a top of the hour news story on the Today Show about how Dick's earnings and holiday sales are suffering from their political stance on guns. It was a PR disaster for them.

Who are these dicks you speak of? I have not entered one of their stores in 15 years or more. It's full of Volvo-driving snarky millennial.

They lost our business for life. We typically spend $200+ on soccer gear every season for my kids. Never again.

In related news, I heard that Nike dropped their "special relationship" with Dick's, which provided for exclusive and early releases on new items. As someone who works in a local running store, I found this to be another nail in Dick's coffin (their customer service on running shoes is non-existent).

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I may have actually been in the Dick's in Manassas 3 times. Virtually impossible to find someone to help find what the customer is seeking!

I decided that I had no need to go there again when I established that the "clerks" have no more knowledge than the customers they are supposed to help.

If they would rather destroy products instead of selling them, that is their choice, stupid as it may be.

When they close up it will not affect me, in any way other than to see it as the incredible stupidity of their corporate, and local, management.

Good riddance.

The closest Dick's to me is an hours drive away, so they can dry up and blow away for all I care.

From time to time they have good sales on shotgun shells but otherwise I see no reason to go in one.

Maybe. But how many cases do they allow one to buy? I was at a Dick's in NJ 7 or 8 years back. They had a big sale on AA/RXP 12/20 ga target shells. Went to the store and they had 10 boxes of 12 ga. That was it. "Limited to stock on hand, NO rainchecks".

Then the real kick in the ass....as a MT resident, I was unable too buy them anyway. One needs a NJ Firearms IID card to buy ammo!
