Running errands, I was wearing an NRA baseball cap, styled sort of like FBI cap -- plain black, with large block letters, "NRA," in front.

I was watching people, and surprisingly, I did not detect any negative reaction, no sour looks, nothing like that.

At a couple of stores, people would smile and hold the door for me.

Publix grocery store, I got a couple of thumbs-up, and more smiles.

Walmart Neighborhood Market -- if you're not familiar with these, it's a variety of Walmart store that is mainly groceries, not much of anything else -- I was trying to untangle two shopping carts that had mated, thinking maybe I needed to throw a bucket of cold water on them. Another shopper stopped, said "nice hat," and helped me pull the carts apart. Went to the deli counter to get some sliced cheese*, etc., for sandwiches. The deli guy made a positive comment about the cap, launched into a conversation about his SIG, very friendly service.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was not a hint of disapproval from anybody I encountered.
NOTE* Cheese. Walmart deli is the only place I have found that carries President brand Emmental cheese. This is a French brand, some of the best Swiss-type cheese that I have found. Curiously, a lot of stores carry President butter, but I have not found the cheese any place except the deli counter at Walmart.

A few years ago at work we had a police detail to cross us across a busy street to our building from the parking lot. This was because a few people had been hit by cars. Anyway the cop noticed my Sig sticker on the car and brought it up to me one day as I was crossing. From then on we had short gun conversations almost every day. I was frequently a bit late getting into the office as we discussed Guns in the middle of the street while he was crossing people. Very nice guy and I was sad when he retired. He offered to help me buy a Glock if I wanted (no Massachusetts legal Glocks unless personal transfer and so mostly cops selling is how we can get them). He said he couldn’t take the entitled young cops that thought they didn’t need to work weekends, prompting his early retirement. Funny how a sticker or a cab can often bring up conversations with like-minded people.

I never did buy a Glock, contrary to current wisdom.

These go to eleven.

Very nice to read. People better learn to hang on to what we've got. Good things are just that. I dawned my bright red Trump winter hat at the Market this weekend. A few folks were very pleased and of corse talked some supportive politics. Noone disaproved. On one of the gas pumps down at the Richwood, Ky. Shell station, pump #5, someone put a little 3" high sticker of F joe biden pointing at the price. At the bottom it reads "I did that". Big Grin

I was gifted a basically OD BCM cap through a karma here years ago and in summer I generally wear it at least 3-4 times a week. Sun and soaked through sweat have turned it into kind of Coyote/Foliage mix. I get a lot of comments on it, all of them positive. Occasionally someone will ask me what BCM stands for, even though it is spelled out all along the edge of the brim. Usually I just say "Bravo Company Mfg" and if they still look confused I say, "they make a great quality AR-15 and parts"

Still, never a negative reaction.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11

...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

I went to vote in a primary a couple of years ago wearing my NRA cap just like that. It was a dual one that you had to declare whether you were voting in the Dem primary or the Repub one. As soon as I walked up to the poll worker he handed me a Repub ballot with a big smile, saying " I don't have to ask which primary you're voting in."
