I need new tires on my utility trailer (2000# GVW). Of course I'd prefer a US make over Chinese, but the Goodyear Endurance isn't made in 13". Are any of the Chinese trailer tires worth considering? If not, I may change to 14" wheels and go with the Endurance. Thanks

I work for U-Haul. Some of our older trailers still use 13" tires. We use Carlisle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. I have no experience in that size. Goodyear makes the Endurance and G614RST (which I have on my 5th wheel) in the USA, but not that size. I believe Carlisle makes a bias ply tire in the USA in 13". Maxxis makes some 15" trailer tires in Taiwan, but I don't know about their 13" sizes. Otherwise, the rest are made in China.

I came to the conclusion that going to 14" wheels/tires was the best course. 13" tires seem to be going the way of the Dodo.

Take a look at the Carlisle Radial Trailer HD. I'm a Carlisle Distribtor and my customers really like this tire. I believe it's made in the USA, too. We import Chinese lines, too, Vitour is our own brand and some Westlake in special applications. No problems with any of them. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

THIS, check marine stores, you can get tires already mounted on the wheels for about the same price as buying tires and having a shop put them on your own wheels. Firestone I believe makes 13" tires, I sure as heck wouldn't go with Chinese......also radials would much be my preference.

KZ1000, do not think I have forgotten about the help you gave me a few years ago. I still owe you a debt of gratitude. Try Costco. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I don't see any trailer tires on Firestone's website. As far as I can tell, the only American made trailer tire is the GY Endurance.

This came up today at work. A friend who has a boat decided to replace his boat trailer tires, since they are original equipment, from 1999. The boat and trailer are stored inside, but damn.............1999? I asked what brand they were. Carlisle he replied. I work for a roofing company, so I am very familiar with Carlisle roofing products. I had no idea they made tires. If he can find them, he plans to replace them with Carlisle. Costco I say, Greenline or Greenball or something like that I believe. USA made as I remember. Not sure on this size. But I would check. Maybe on line even. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Carlisle USA Trail 175/80r13, but I believe it is bias ply not radial as the description says. I don't know what difference bias vs radial makes on a utility trailer.

Bias ply takes a set where the tire meets the ground if it's been sitting in the same spot for more than a week. On a single axle trailer (especially a light one) it will bounce like crazy for the first 5-10 miles till it warms up then will turn normally.....like the trailer is constantly going over a speed bump.

We sell Carlisle. I would recommend the Radial Trail HD. You should expect to pay around $60 per tire installed and balanced. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.
