Ten percent of their staff- 240 of the wokest people out there.

Incredible Shrinking Washington Post Shrinks by 240 More Staffers
quote:
Per the always-upset Washington Post Guild, this loss of 240 liars, I mean staffers, represents ten percent of the Post’s overall staff. The Guild also doesn’t understand why the Post, which is owned by “one of the richest people in the world,” needs to lay people off. Maybe it’s just to make me happy? Or maybe the Post’s owner, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, bought a newspaper and not a daycare center for crybaby liars that will cost him $100 million a year to subsidize?

I’m just thinking out loud here.

Now, because it is the holiday season, I do want to assure these laid-off staffers that no one wishes them anything but the best in the future. From my family to yours, click here, and godspeed as you enjoy and enter what many of your colleagues call “funemployment” (but only when a Democrat is president).

One last piece of advice: When you carry your box of stuff out to your Prius, make sure to bring along some bodyguards. The Democrats you idiots vote for have turned Washington, DC, into a hellscape, and as much as you want to see people like me physically hurt, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

By the way, Breitbart is hiring. We won’t hire you because you lie. I just wanted to rub that in. Merry Christmas. Kiss my ass.

It’s a good start.

America will be better off when WaPo is just an uncomfortable part
Of US history.
They are progressive propagandists who hate America so the sooner they fail completely and totally the better off this country will be. Fuck every last one of them.

The plan is to balance a $100,000,000 loss by firing 240 people?

That means, on average, each makes $416k per year.

I think I found the problem.

People getting paid way too much.
People making bad business decisions.

WP has zero credibility except to the echo chamber and that's dwindling daily.

Louisville Courier-Journal is my local rag and it is terrible - woke as hell with mostly semi-illiterate reporters.

For the last few years they (Gannett owns CJ) have offered a digital subscription trial for $1.00 for 6 months - the catch is they have your credit card and if you fail to cancel your trial sub it auto goes to full price of about $15 per month.

Supposed to only be a promotion for new subscribers. I play their game and go for a sub starting in May. That gives Derby coverage and goes thru baseball season and UofL football. I recently cancelled but am getting daily offers begging me to come back for the same $1 for 6 months.

Gannett know what their product is worth. Big Grin

The Courier sealed their own doom with their leftist bullshit. They fully supported the downtown rioting and attacks. One of their own was shot dead by the trash during the mayhem. Another of their darlings tried to shoot the current Mayor during the campaign season. I had multiple email contacts with Gerth and Green to call them out on their lies and all they could do is resort to the usual name calling via virtue signaling buzzwords. Very limited brain power going on there. I assume most of the newspapers employ the same level of mind power.
I still enjoy sitting with a real newspaper. The Epoch Times has lately filled that roll but I miss see local interest stories.

It’s kinda like that old joke about farming.

You know how to make a million dollars farming?

Spend three million.

To be fair, salary is only a portion of what an employee costs. Some rules of thumb say that the true cost of an employee is 2.5 to 3X their direct compensation. Using the 3X number, that brings the direct compensation to about $138K, which actually may be realistic given the cost of living in the DC area. So the 240 headcount might be based in some sort of reality.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.
