Our clothes washer, Whirlpool LSQ9200KQ0 filled with water and then stopped.

I assumed a bad lid switch but soon discovered the lid switch had been removed by the previous owner. The switch is gone and the bypass is well secured and I trust it didn’t fail.

What else can cause a washer to fill with water and stop?

I have a mobile appliance repair guy based in Pleasanton if you want his contact info. He just came out over the weekend and told me the honest truth my machine was gonna cost $400 to fix so we bought a new one instead. He had done a bunch of small repairs over the years on it. He also has very strong opinions on which brands he likes and which brand she does a lot of repairs on.

I Suspect it is caused by the main circuit board going wonky. Does it have a service code where you can look for a self diagnostic routine? Look for a service manual on the net that should get you into the service menu. I ended up with a used board on eBay that let us go for a few more years.

Update: I pulled the case out and when I turned it on and touched my screwdriver to the connector housing I could feel the motor vibrating, but not making any noise. I’m thinking that’s not a good sign for the motor, right?

I’ll check those links.

You can always try the old reboot trick and see if it works.

Unplug it, or trip the breaker, wait a moment then see if it restarts properly.

Good luck to you.
