Need a recommendation for a lightweight WATERPROOF Jacket. Prefer a zip up vs. pullover. What do you like that you have tries. Bonus if it packs nicely, with no with no wrinkles. Thanks.

I have this one in Black..

Jacket

Is it worth full retail? Probably not, but it works really well.. Not sure if you have access to Expert Voice or look for a 25% of coupon, plus BF Sales are around the corner soon..

I don’t buy much Orvis stuff anymore because of a few personal reasons, but I love this rain jacket.

Anything from Grunden’s commercial fishing line should suit your needs very well. They have become my go to brand for anything where I might get wet.

I like the looks of some of their stuff. Their about us says most of their products are made in Portugal but fails to mention where everything else is made, so I presume China?
Is there a way to determine what is made where?

I just ordered a pair of their leather chukkas for this winter. If they suck I blame YOU!!

I use my issued USCG foul weather parka, just remove the liner and it’s a squall jacket…bad news is it was $350 in 2003 when I had to buy it…although over the last 20 years it’s paid for itself.

With that in mind, if I ever had to buy another rain jacket it would most definitely be made of gor-Tex.

I have this one. It consistently ranks at the top of WP jacket lists.

Lightweight, breathable and completely waterproof.

I have a north face waterproof shell with detachable inner fleece. It is extremely light weight, without the inner fleece which zipper attaches you can roll it up and stuff it into a small bag.

It provides no warmth without the fleece but it's great for wind and rain and you can easily put on a thick coat under this, which I have at Giants games in December.

I think it is this one but don't quote me on that.

My wife got me this one on sale. I use it for backpacking...it's very lightweight and folds up nicely and small in my pack. It's also not insulated, so you don't sweat to death in warmer weather if you have to put it on. I sometimes use it to keep the bugs off even when it's not raining.

I have given a Marmot Precip jacket many years of seasonal use and it became a go to reliable lightweight. After about ten years a lot of the seam tape started separating. I replaced it with an Arcteryx Beta LT jacket I found on sale. It is slightly sturdier, a few ounces heavier and doesn't stuff as compactly. We shall see which one I like better.

I have a similar shell from North Face but I usually get my North Face stuff from an outlet in Destin FL. Stuff is often 50% off there.

My goto rain jackets are from REI and Columbia.

The joke was that you rent from REI because people used to return them when they wore out and picked up a new one for free.

They like LL Bean have tightened up the return policy. Still well made jackets.

My jackets from both are many years old and keep me dry.
