I actually don't have a problem with the last picture, the one I used in the meme. But the others so dilute this positive message as to render it meaningless, a joke, even.

Yeah, I have no doubt that I might repeat those words to my daughter one day.

Many years ago, before I met my wife, I was dating a nut case who decided to get involved in feminism. She had some sort of meeting at her place that was supposed to be over by the time I got there to go out for dinner.

Well, the meeting was nowhere near over. The lesbian partner of one of the attendees at the meeting really was not overjoyed about the way things were going so I asked her if she felt like taking a walk with me to a local bar, right down the street, to have a couple of beers.

"Oh, yeah! Let's get the fuck out of here," was her response, so we sauntered down the street. Evidently, a man holding a door for her, holding her chair while she was seated, and offering her a light for her cigar, were things that she was not used to, and she liked these common courtesies to the point where she said "If more men were as considerate as you are, I might think about going straight." Her delivery of that line cracked me up.

I raised two daughters and always told them that they needed to be independent and be able to take care of themselves. They both have postgraduate degrees, and are not dependent on a man to take care of them. I recall things happening when they were young that really annoyed me. In kindergarten they were practicing to be stewardesses while the boys were the airline pilots. They thought that was stupid and I agreed. Both my daughters were college athletes. They could beat most of the boys in tennis throughout high school. The boys would refuse to play after a while and say that they cheated. Things in the world are now more equal. They have manners and respect men, but neither are feminists. They laughed at the Womens March and thought it represented a fringe element. Both like men and get along with men better than women. Just my two cents.

I have known some women whose male partners beat the heterosexuality out of them. And some other women that evaluated their long-term prospects and decided that a female life-partner was more likely to engender a stable and prosperous home.

You forgot soccer, both kinds of hockey, and driving a Subaru.

One of my squad leaders checked off all the boxes. After Gulf War I we ended up as roommates with two other of her friends. Interesting times.....
