I don't have cats,dogs,birds.
People love'em ,I get it.

The farm store here has people bring them in.

I don't pay attention to them.
It's a non issue. Who cares.

But
Putting them in the shopping cart that others will be using later ?

I don't like it.
Desanitizing the push bar is no big deal ,but the whole cart?
They need a dog's on the floor rule.

I like dogs and have one myself, but have never felt the need to take her shopping.

I see where you're coming from. In that same vein, I never use the child seat on grocery carts and spray them a lot before driving off because I visualize toddlers sitting there and shitting and peeing on the seat. To me, much worse than a well behaved dog in the cart. I don't like either for food stuffs, but give me the dog. YMMV.

I was in a local farm supply store and saw a woman walking a rooster on a leash. First time I've ever seen a pet rooster with a shopper, as well as the first time seeing a chicken on a leash.

I’m with Navy Guy. I’d be more worried about crotch goblins in their diapers sitting in the crotch goblin seat.
I take the boys some places but there is no way I can pick up a couple 75 lb plus Boxers and put them in a cart….

So you sanitize the push bar then go through the store picking up stuff other people have touched? Why?

I see stores around here with signs at the door that say, "Please don't try to pass off your pet as a service animal."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Great Danes can be lovely.
But some are very shy and spook easily.

( Was that a G.D. ?)

I bet the pets are a lot cleaner than the people pushing the cart
