I've tried since 1984 to get my wife to learn the proper use of the Mac. Even simple things like storing documents in folders and subfolders is still beyond her. My way of learning was by the simplest instructions, then trying things to see how they worked. My wife's brain seems to work differently--reluctant to go around trying things; thinks she needs to know every step before going on.
Apple used to have great, simple video tutorials for beginners; now everything seems designed for people already familiar with Windows.
In the past she's paid for lessons at the Genius Bar in the Apple store, but that didn't work.
This seems a little like teaching your wife to drive...and we now have years--decades--of mutual frustration.
IF you have found a way of introducing people to the Mac who have NOT used other computers, I'd like to know what it is.

What will she be doing with it? If just browsing the web and email, maybe an iPad might be better for her.

I have no knowledge of tutorials, but you’re not far from the UTC Apple store. I’m pretty sure that they host free sit-in classes for various Mac apps and operations.

She's made up her mind that she can't learn it and if you've always been there to the rescue, then she has no incentive to learn. Until she decides she can learn, she won't.

My mom is 82 and she refuses to learn how to use the track pad on her 2011 MBP that I gave her 4 years ago. She still uses it but still doesn't know how to open files, set up and print, and use a track pad. She still carries around a bluetooth mouse and a mouse pad.

My wife is the same way about a printer and scanner. She refuses to learn because I'm always there to scan documents and print stuff. Same for both with software updates, no matter how basic Apple makes it.
