AT Tire Discussion: Grabber ATX vs BFG AT KO2
A Falken rep just became active on another forum I am on and I asked about the recent Chinese manufacturing.

His response:
quote:
Majority of stock comes from our Thailand and USA plant to this day. China is used when we need additional supply and doesn't account for major stock. With the high tariffs for Chinese made products, we won't be using the China plant for much stock. You may also come across Japanese built ones.

I said I would still have trouble buying knowing I might get a Chinese set.
Not had any luck recently with locals being able to touch prices online and would not be willing to roll the dice ordering online without an assurance of a non Chinese set.

Good news for those that got Chinese models. He responded that you could contact Falken Customer Service Directly and swap them out. Probably on the hook for labor costs though.

quote:
We have a couple of plants around the world. For the North American market (USA & Canada), tires are made from Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Buffalo, NY. China came into view when we needed extra supply for the Wildpeaks, as backorders were taking a toll. I can assure that quality of the chinese made Wildpeaks is on par with our main locations. We have had customer exercise our 30 day trial period on the Chinese made Wildpeaks and exchange them for the Thai or US built ones.

So hopefully they can figure out a way to dump the Chinese manufacturing plant.

So it appears Tire Rack wasn't really all that wrong after all. Big Grin

Still quite happy with the choice of General Grabber ATx over Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. Smile

It's great to hear!Smile When it comes to comparing tires, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind. Tires compare can help you find the perfect tires for your vehicle. First, consider what type of driving you'll be doing most often. If you're mostly on the road, you'll want tires that have good tread life and are quiet. If you're mostly off-road, you'll want tires that are good in mud or snow and can handle rocks and other obstacles.
