When off-duty Brazilian Police start dealing with this crap, I won't be protesting.

Be ready to do what is necessary at a moments notice. Time is NOT on your side in attacks like this!

It has been happening in my town for a long time now. People are stupid and leave valuables (including cash) in their vehicle and make it as easy target when they go in side a store after getting cash.

All I can say is that I am prepared for any situation I may face.

Go on eBay. Buy several bundles of fake hundos for movie use. Have the actual cash hidden and toss the fakes- maybe even cut the bands so the “money” scatters while you scoot with the real cash and the turds are grubbing around on the ground for the fake dolla-dolla bills, y’all.

Who still withdraws cash from a bank?

Most I ever withdraw was $2k in cash to pay my detailer. That was years ago. Everyone is doing electronic payments by me nowadays.

Not minority enough!

I do. I prefer to pay cash for everything. I prefer doing it that way and so do most of the merchants I frequent. I don't like anyone knowing my location ( mainly the government)or putting myself in the position of having my bank account hacked electronically.

With regards to the guy in the blue car: should have put it in drive and ran a couple of those punks over as soon as they started running towards him.
As for me, Rosco is right there on the top of the console any time I'm in my truck.

I'm going to be re-thinking how I carry in the car. These incidents proceed so quickly that deployment can be iffy.

In many sudden attacks, there will be uncertainty about what is actually happening until it is too late to respond effectively. Ideas for this would be appreciated: front of the seat holster, visor holster, other?

One poster above mentions the dash of his truck. How do you keep Roscoe from sliding around, perhaps into a position where you can't get to him when you need him?

I have not been to a bank or used an ATM in over 5 years maybe even longer. Honestly.

Many people still deal with cash. Here in South Carolina, we have caught on to the jugging trend relatively quickly. I would not recommend it for aspiring criminals in this state.

Maybe a shoulder rig* as well as side holster.
*(mod shoulder rigs as required for driving, not as a "day to day" unless that is your "normal")

Your normal holster carry, get in vehicle, slip on shoulder rig, transition pistol.
Reverse when you get to a destination. Coming and going, simply practice good situation awareness.

I lock my truck when I enter and close the door, rather than wait for it to "auto lock" after reaching 5 MPH. Think parking garage, where you could be blocked and jumped before the doors lock.
Since it unlocks when I pull the handle, I am not concerned with it being locked.

You could use a back pack or similar with a couple books, and have a holster (I use an IWB with belt clip) that clips to the front pocket of the backpack.
It sets on the passenger seat and is easier to draw from than from side holster while sitting, and I can "zip" the pocket closed with one hand if I were to be stopped by the police, as soon as I see the lights without it being seen. (happened a few times, but all that is another discussion, and I live/travel in very "gun friendly/constitutional carry states)

There are holsters that can be secured to dash, but I think that invites trouble and could be used against you if you had to present deadly force with the argument being "you were premeditating and "looking for a reason" BS, but remember the "12" are majority lemmings and not likely to be a majority logically thinking people about firearms and the RTKABA.

It's obvious, but reminders are good- Think of the moment and time beyond the second after you have to utilize any deadly force against another human being as to that future timeline in your (and your family's) life.

The percentage of times one is not criminally charged in a defensive shooting, and the percent of those who also face civil suit, life is going to be different.

This type of crime has been happening for years, maybe not the numerous perps, but robbing people after visiting an ATM is an age old crime. Back in the 80s, there was a rash of these, prompting people to develop more situational awareness. Since those years, I have made it a habit to be aware of my surroundings at an ATM or walking out of a bank, and keeping alert while driving away to make sure nobody is following me. And also the same after visiting a gun range or gun store.

I use banks and ATMs once in a while. I can't remember the last time I walked into a bank without a gun on me. Last time I had any serious amount of cash on me was when selling a car, took $22k in $100 bills straight to a share branch of my credit union and deposited it.

+1 on driving straight to destination w/o stops and carrying. The only exception being when I took the legal limit of cash with me to move to Canada for 2 years. I also have a heightened scanning of my surroundings getting in my car and driving.

I guess the thieves count on lack of situational awareness because the victims in the video were:
  • mindlessly running errands (e.g. stopping for gas) with tens of thousands of dollars sitting in the passenger seat
  • followed all the way home without realizing it
