I am not discounting the fact that having a pet animal can be comforting--I have 6 cats in my house and enjoy interacting with them a lot. But I don't take them with me when I travel--I have a trusted person come to my home each day I'm gone to take care of my kitties.

I certainly do not approve of having any "comfort animal" that is larger than a cat or small dog, especially if one insists on traveling with it (which I think should not be allowed).

The above diatribe does not extend to true "service animals" that are there to perform physical tasks for their owners. I think those animals are remarkable and are worthy of some accommodation.

This is my comfort animal, it carries 15 rds not two.

Do you need AC at 2:30am in Houston?
You need a/c in Houston 24/7/365. When I was job-hunting in Texas 39 years ago I was told I could earn $10,000/yr more in Houston than in Dallas--I said it was worth that much to avoid the Houston climate. (I still think so.)

You absolutely need AC 24 hours per day from mid-April until mid/late October. For example, tonight it'll be 85% to 90% humidity between 2 and 3 AM putting the heat index at 82.

Same here. I drove my car without air conditioning for four years in a similar climate. It was brutal. I remember when A/C first came out as an aftermarket accessory. My grandfather had it installed in his Dodge Dart. It cooled but dripped water a lot and took up a LOT of interior space. I could not live here without air conditioning, but many poor people do.
