Controversial Democratic Socialist Julia Salazar Unseats 16-Year Incumbent in NY State Senate Primary

Julia Salazar, a Democratic socialist who has faced revelations that she misled voters about her upbringing and backstory, defeated 16-year incumbent state Sen. Martin Dilan in the Democratic New York State Senate primary Thursday in Brooklyn's 18th District.

Salazar’s mother and brother have pointed out that she was not a Colombian immigrant raised by a single mom who didn’t have a college degree as she initially claimed. She was actually born in Miami to a middle class family. Her brother also disputed her claims that she was of Jewish origin.

The Tablet found that Salazar went from being a conservative, pro-life and pro-Israel Christian to a progressive Jewish Democrat during her time at Columbia. She also did not graduate from Columbia as she had claimed on a survey, causing Citizen's Union to pull their endorsement of her.

The Tablet also revealed that Salazar was arrested in 2011 for allegedly impersonating Kai Hernandez, the wife of baseball player Keith Hernandez, so she could access her bank account.

Salazar said Kai Hernandez was attempting to frame her because she mistakenly thought Salazar was having an affair with her husband. They reached a $20,000 settlement in Salazar's favor.

Salazar’s lawyer Adam Hecht commented about the suit, “Kai Hernandez’s bizarre and fraudulent attempts to defame and victimize Julia were recognized as baseless by the authorities, who declined to file charges, and this matter was resolved with a monetary settlement in Julia’s favor. We have no further comment on this.”

It has also come out recently that she accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesman, David Keyes, of sexually assaulting her. Eleven more women have since accused Keyes of inappropriate behavior.

The 27-year-old has been compared to Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after her stunning victory over fourth-ranking House Democrat Joe Crowley in June.

That someone like this can even make it this far is an indicator of just how morally bankrupt the left is.

You have got to imagine the current leadership of the Dem party is shaking in their shes that their days are numbered at this point. The idiocracy wing of the Dem party are taking over day by day.

New York state is fucked. I am as serious when I can be when I say that I no longer consider New York to be part of the United States.

This latest NY primary result is a prime example.

It's too bad that there aren't some decent and electable Republicans in these districts to run against these nutjobs in the generals and win.

Sadly, they are probably unopposed.

Exactly why I left a couple years ago. In all honesty New York’ political landscape comes down to:
1) rhinos that are at best marginally pro American pro 2A
( there are a few very good conservatives but in a sea of liberal drivel do not have much political impact)
2)mid left to far left democrats like chuck shumer ( in much of the down state New York City region, which sadly controls the destiny of the rest of the state, he would be a moderate for sure)
3) outright communists that the lib city dwellers embrace

So glad I left that area of the country 47 years ago. It was bad then, it's much worse now.

It's disturbing and troubling that these people can get elected to run and be this close to power. Are the Dem voters trying to send a message to the old establishment or are they voting for pure socialisim?

I left Syracuse in 1982. My family wants me to move back. No way.

If the establishment doesn't win then the Republicans would rather the Democrats win. Gives them an excuse for not suporting Trump's agenda. This is bigger than the party vs party politics. It is all corrupted.
