I met Billy Carter in 1980 while in High School.

There was a festival up in Plains and he came through greeting everyone.

He would have been a MUCH better president.

Honestly.

It's (The Wake) already started for Mr. Peanut.
I saw that as well. Listening to Kamala’s answers to the softballs she was thrown, they made the right choice to put Mr. Peanut’s out to pasture story first. Harris makes no more sense than Biden.

I've posted this before and it's worth repeating. Jimmy Carter will die knowing he wasn't the worst president ever and Joe Biden will die never knowing he was president.

He was absolute shit but if it weren’t for him, we likely don’t get Reagan in the 80s.

I recall the Russians calling Carter the "Peanut Politician".

Few of us at the time would disagree with the Russians.

My family owned a lumber yard in a small town. The the Carter administration era was not a happy time for our family. High inflation, high interest rates, and almost zero home building. My father despised the man. My feelings have been tempered a bit but what I'm seeing in the Oval Office right now remind me very much of Jimmy. I will lose no sleep over Jimmy's passing.

From xkcd:

I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.

I served with Jimmy’s son, Chip, in the Navy. We were in the top section of Nuclear Power School. I guess he’d had enough and said he was getting out. He apparently turned himself in on drug usage. Never saw him again. I remember him as a smart, likable guy. That was in about 1970.

He can go knowing he has gone from the worst US President to #3. Obama knocked him out of #1 the Biden knocked Obama out making Jimmy #3. We have invested a lot in keeping this boy alive over the years. Times up.
