Good thing is the smell of burning wood beats the smell of the Dems.

I'm closing in on 75. Why don't I ever remember "smoke from Canada" ever happening here until the last few years.
Because all the years of living in Chicago has created a thick layer of sludge. It takes a lot of smoke to overpower that stench. Enjoy it while it lasts armored! Big Grin

We are out of Hazardous and at the bottom of the Very Unhealthy range just above Unhealthy. The map says that just a few miles away the AQI is green, under 50. I think we'll go for a boat ride. I really think the map isn't accurate here.

My reading says an N95 mask with two straps will filter 95% of the PM2.5, particulate matter 2.5 microns.

Late last night the AQI here was 307. Not good!

We had a break here yesterday as the winds kept the smoke south of us. We had partly cloudy blue skies on the water (off Sodus Point, NY).

By evening the smoke was shifting again and we were unable to see any sunset.

This morning the smoke is back but it is supposed to leave as a series of storms roll in.

A half hour ago it looked like it was clearing up here, but now the horizon is disappearing into the haze. Had a good dog scaring storm last night.

Thick haze here a few days ago.
Last year/ 2 years ago, whenever the last Canadian wildfires were, it smelled like a big campfire outside.

This time it smells like a burning car or garage.

A few days ago the sky turned dark, I thought is was a storm coming.

I looked up and the sky had turned a strange color of yellow.

I realized it was the smoke from Canada.

Would nukes blow out some of the bigger fires?

Just spitballing.

Cleared up around here this morning but here at sunset the smoke is back in the red 150-200 zone.
The clear air was nice while it lasted.

And a little closer (about 6 miles from home):
