I was in Sportsman's Warehouse some years back and happened to find myself wandering around the cooler section. I wasn't in need of one, but figured I'd look and see if they had a nice one for a good price. Not knowing anything about Yetis at that time, I took a gander at their cooler and it looked nice and well built. Then I took a gander at the price tag of somewhere north of $300. A fella walked up next to me right then and when he saw the price he said, "Fuck that. I can buy a refrigerator for $300."

Yep.

Not a chance in hell I'd pay that for a cooler. Now there's not a chance in hell I'd give that company a dime of my money.

Agree completely. I bought a 12 can size Yeti Hopper when they came out about six years ago. It was great and still is while getting daily use.

Couple years after I bought an RTIC Softpack 8 can version. A lot cheaper but the zipper is about 25% as robust and was a pain to open regardless of how often I applied lubricant as recommended and became totally unusable shortly after the 1 yr warranty was up. I was used very infrequently, I should add.

While I wasn’t happy when the NRA thing happened, I like good stuff and they do make quality products, plus they offer a good LEO discount on most items.

Anyway, I still like my chair. Smile

The $9 Walmart version is very nice and keeps everything nice and cold for a full day. Its basically a clone of the Yeti, and about the same as an RTIC. We own about 10 of them and wife and I use them every single day. Great cups for ice water.

The Yeti lids also are an exact interchange on these

Agree 110%. However I did enjoy going to Walmart to purchase a Yeti knockoff.

I've stopped counting.

Somebody once did a test of the Walmart Yeti knockoff insulated, lidded tumbler against the Yeti product. The knockoff did as well or better.

I have one Yeti product: An insulated, lidded mug--purchased in a moment off weakness at a hardware store. My wife thought I was nuts for paying $25 for a coffee mug. It does keep my coffee hot for a good long while.

How are so many so dependent on the temperature of their drinks? Also the amount of properly cooled/heated drinks that they MUST have on hand throughout the day is a mystery to me.

Jeezy Petes, drink when you are thirsty and if it started out hot but now it's gotten cold maybe you should have drank it faster. Or if you're like me, drink it anyway.

Fuck Yeti. I don't even really care about who they choose to donate their shit to, fuck them for their ridiculous pricing on uneccessary products.

I use the Walmart brand 1/2 gallon to carry water. They're $14. Don't know how much Yeti is but I'm sure it's probably many times more. I don't need it to keep cold water for days. Outside of fishing in some areas and having to keep fish on ice, I can't really see a need to have to keep ice for days.

Yeti has other companies beat bad in this department: marketing.
