Only if the water leak can't be fixed should you consider trading. Give it a chance and some time first. And this has already been said, but replacing/sealing the window doesn't make sense. It would defy the law of gravity for water to flow up and contaminate the headliner.

Any vehicle I can't trust I get rid of, with that said how well does the engine, transmission and drive train hold up with the Ram trucks? Some minor flaws you can learn to live with provided major components hold up well over the course of 100000 plus miles. If you can afford a new truck and you don't trust your current truck might be time to move on to another vehicle.

My truck is garage kept and had been parked outside for a week after having several large boxes stored in the garage. It rained a lot that week. How can I be sure the leak will not occur again when I go back to parking in the garage? Do I need to hook up a sprinkler and spray my truck for 8 hours to check for leaks after the new window?

I would say this is not the time to buy anything. I stopped and looked at a year old 4Runner with 20k miles on it and they were asking 6k over the original MSRP and it was not in perfect condition. I asked them if they were going to give me 46k for my 2018 4Runner and there was a lot of odd sounds on the other end of the line. Thank you Very little |
JMO, buying a new car right now, is nuts, supply is tight, there are no real deals, and the negotiations are, "Hi can I pay MSRP, Please?" basically you pay what they want, dealer profits are through the roof, less staff, no deals. You have a warranty, have them fix it, show you what they found as a cause, and drive it, OTOH right now used cars are Hot, auction volume is down, reason, people are not returning lease cars, they are buying them because there is equity, top that with the no repo orders, rental car companies having less trade ins, tight market. So you would get more for your truck, but you will pay more, if it bothers you, trade it, but get top dollar...

Mine had nothing to do with how much, nor how hard it rained. It was all about the angle. That’s why I went and bought a tube of clear RTV and gorilla snotted the ever loving hell out of the area. In my opinion, less than $10 was easily money well spent on a fix for a truck that had, and still has, been otherwise perfect. If you’re having other issues with the truck, then by all means get rid of it. You’ll likely get more for it now than you thing but as I mentioned in my previous post, check on what it’ll cost to buy what you’re thinking about replacing it with. I can post or send pics of exactly what we gave for the previously mentioned 2016 Ram we bought for our daughter barely 3 months ago vs. what it’s worth as of Thursday. We gave a shade over 26k for that truck when we bought it, 1500 Laramie Longhorn crew cab 4x4 that is lacking 2 options as best I can tell. Those options would be the Ram Box storage built into the bed and the optional 3.92 gears. My 2014 has the optional gears but the 2016 we bought for our daughter doesn’t. I like the way mine performs with those gears but she definitely didn’t need that. As for the “Dodge reliability issues” that was previously brought up, I’m the last person I ever thought would by a Dodge/Ram. My 2014 convinced me, which is why since I bought mine, we bought a new 2018 Durango for my wife and the used 2016 Ram for our daughter. They’re not for everyone but they have definitely won me over. They’re not what they used to be. ___________________________ Not giving a damn since...whenever...

It kills me to think I need a tube of silicone on my $50,000 truck. After replacing the 3rd brake light gasket I’m confident it will not leak. Now the window is another story. But there is room for silicone and it would not be noticeable

I totally get it and I’m not defending the brand by any means. You should not have to do that on a 50k truck, or my 44k truck, or the one we just bought for a bit over 26k that stickered for over 2x that amount 5 years ago. It’s beyond frustrating, it’s aggravating. Thing is, I can go back over the trucks that, not only I, but also my family and company have bought over the past decade. That would include all brands. Ford, GM, Nissan and yes, Toyota. Obviously with Dodge/Ram. I had to deal with a water leak. Not transmissions, AC, electrical, suspension, or even literally an area that was clear coated but not painted. Yes, that happened on a Lariat F350 that was a 65k truck 8 years ago. I’m not happy that I spent $10 to fix something that Ram should have solved several years ago. I am happy that I didn’t have to put my truck in the shop for something more serious. Or for any other reason. ___________________________ Not giving a damn since...whenever...
