Yeah, I've got no choice but to wait. There are others in the same boat.

Yeah, if you've got space it's good to do. Two of our computers are fine so I went ahead and updated them. My desktop PC, I was too far behind the curve.

On second thought, such an update likely will be larger than my available space?

PatenYou say it's a 459GB hard drive that is usually only 1/4 full and you have less then 44GB available. This 500MB file thing does not explain your drive space issue then. If something ate up that remaining 44GB and you can't download 2.75GB now, it's a different issue. Start uninstalling stuff or get a bigger hard drive.

Try reading the thread. Read the link I posted post 10.

PatenI would have suggested downloading the patch to a flash drive and installing it from there. But unless you can clear some space it probably won't matter at this point.

Again, as I said, I can't clear off enough from my hard drive to work. The microsoft virus is 500GB. My hard drive is 469GB. I could completely erase my hard drive and it would still be too little.

PatenSo what are you going to do? And originally you said 500MB, so that's what I was going with.

Yeah, it's solved. I bought a new computer. I'll later be asking the SF braintrust how to a) install a new hard drive on a computer and b) how to install a Linux OS on it. My wife is a watercolorist and wants the computer for her studio. Finding pictures and viewing youtube tutorials.

jimb888There's always one asshole that comes out and says "linux". But in this case there is two. Linux Mint is a great suggestion. However, if you don't have a couple of clean backups of your photos and data, hold up for a bit on that idea.
I run Mint on a @12 year old machine I paid $200 for 12 gb ram, 4tb HD). Added a $200 SSD drive ( likely more now), and it screams and runs flawlessly.
Good luck with it!
