Getting ready to go to bed last night and went to let Bandit out to go whiz. Well, he's throwing a fit and running in circles. I'm like, "What the hell?" So decided to take him out on a late night walk to burn off some energy. Open the garage door and step out in my driveway to see a green bonfire in the sky. Went back inside to grab the camera and we went on an, "Extended" walk. Which leads me to question again if dogs can sense the Aurora. This is not the first time he's thrown a fit and I've seen the Aurora flare. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

So cool. Is it really that obvious and green? No weird filters on your camera? P229

I've heard enough reports of dogs being able to sense impending earthquakes to believe it even though I've never seen it (never lived in earthquake zones). So it's not beyond belief to think a dog might sense a change in the air. Scent, or maybe a static charge thing. Either of those, combined with the green glow, I'd say yes could absolutely make some dogs go nuts. And yes, it really does look like that. I went up to Fairbanks a few years ago to see it, and it was just like that. Only this was in late March, not October.

OH the beautiful memories..... Seen this type of displays with blues/pinks/purple/yellows/greens with one color being the dominate one to a mixture..During the middle to late 1970"s (Ft. Greely /Delta Junction / Fairbanks)..And I would absolutely believe "Bandits" reaction to the light display.. From personal knowledge of being outside and hearing sounds in conjunction with the moving lights... I have seen and heard that the experts and scientist say that it is not possible to hear anything... But I know what I heard. .................. drill sgt.

Great pic! I'd bet the dog sensed something was different. I grew up with a couple cats and one of them definitely shot out of the room in a very not normal manner, like she was seriously spooked, right before the '89 quake hit in the SF Bay Area.

Beautiful 2000. Breathtaking shots. I feel like that in Kaanapali looking up at all the stars. Makes me feel like a piss ant! What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

No filters or post processing on that shot. The lights can be very intense in their color; mostly greens, then purples, whites and if you're lucky reds. They can also appear white, almost like clouds. Last night's show was really intense, especially to see it with all of the street lights in my neighborhood. Your a long way from Arizona… "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
