I've used Quicken for about 30 years now, keeping tabs on my accounts. It's a great tool, and I don't have any complaints with it.
This evening I was doing the weekly catch-up, and set Quicken to downloading. All was well until I went to reconcile one of the credit card accounts. Three charges I didn't recognize showed up -- one marked Small Arms Manufacturing, and the other two marked as Hooters.
Two charges at Hooters? Totaling over $200, combined? Oh, fudge! My card's been hacked, gotta call the issuer and start the process of disputing the charges. At 9pm on a Sunday. Oh, joy.
So I logged on to my credit card issuer's site and started digging for information. The amount on the one charge looked familiar, but the vendor name still didn't. Then the light bulb! Aha! That's Shaw Barrels -- I ordered a new 10/22 barrel last week. No sweat. (Whew!)
"Well, now let's dig into these charges at Hooters. What the heck is going on here?"
And then I got a good laugh. The charges were listed on my card issuer's site, plain as day: "Midsouth Shooters Supply."
Yep, somehow between the vendor, the credit card company, and the Quicken download, what showed up in my Quicken register was "Hooters" -- characters taken from sHOOTERS, evidently.
The charges and amounts are legit, so no sweat. But holy smokes! I can imagine having to explain to The Lovely Girlfriend over $200 spent at Hooters if she'd been doing the bookkeeping this week! That could have been pretty intense! Heck, I'm not even sure there's a Hooters around here anymore.
Diligence and a good sense of humor really do pay off, y'all.

What is there to explain? The meat is juicy and tasty. Who wouldn’t want to go for second?

Interesting how data can be tweaked during a download is certainly making the point, AI uses data on the internet to compile answers, so imagine that issue multiplied over many databases sharing that data....

No, just seeking for truth in the register.

Unfortunately with some of the liberal ladies explaining Shooters Supply might be harder than Hooters

Honestly, I used to really like the Philly cheese steak at Hooters. Really.

Thankfully, my lady is NOT one of those!
In fact, she's SO MUCH not one of those, that she took an AR and a .44 Magnum to the range this weekend, and shouted " 'merica! " as she fired.

Okay, the standard question; does she have a sister?

Sorry, my friend, you're out of luck on that one.

This probably your books software feeding your info into “AI” for it to make a summary that supposed to easier for you to understand. Of course it’s all also stored away safe and sound to never be hacked or sold.

Could be… and y’know what? I haven’t had trouble understanding my own downloaded transactions for some 30 years now… so I’m happy to tell AI to suck it!!. This message has been edited. Last edited by: vthoky,

I miss Hooters. Had one nearby and when I was in the mood for Steamed Clams they were the only place in town.
Back when my Dad and StepMom lived in Clearwater my Brother and I rode down for a visit. While there I help Dad rebuild his sprinkler system. A year later when we went again the brick patio was all tore up and my Brother ended up reconstructing the patio. It became sort of a family joke about what Dad would be fixing on our Visits. My sister in law would fly down for the week and thought it was hilarious. My StepMom thought Dad was taking advantage of us but truth is both of us always enjoyed working with Dad on a project.
Anyhow on one of the trips Dad took my Brother and I out to the original Hooter's in Clearwater. The food was actually very good and the Eye Candy first class. However Dad really didn't know how to cope with that much leg showing. Because when he was 20 in 1939 Skirts were much longer. BTW time frame for those trips would be late 1980's.
I've stopped counting.
