It looks like another outpatient, non-surgical treatment. Without more information and long-term data, it would be hard to say it is better than other treatments. I first tried a TUNA (trans-urethral needle ablation) which uses heat to destroy prostate tissue, however, it did not last long. I ultimately went in for the traditional, gold-standard, TURP (roto-rooter). It may be worth watching/investigating.

Anything that would help that isn't surgical is good,

I was asked to be in a trial for this procedure a few years ago at the Cleveland Clinc. My urologist was surprised when I asked if the procedure would be free (it was not). I ended up having a laser procedure.

A coworker had the roto-rooter done on him. He said the first time he had to pee after the procedure will always be memorable.

Because of a TURP I had in 2006, I had only one choice when diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, prostatectomy. More options are a good thing, hope this new procedure is the real deal.

These days medical advances are promoted by various clinics directly to the patient/consumer.
Mayo clinic obviously is interested in promoting their services and it is a commercial for their clinic. Before this sort of medical sales pitch, your physician would discuss the pros and cons of various procedures depending on your particular health issues. I remember when this crap first started. There was a picture of an Arab in traditional dress driving his Mercedes and holding his chest. The tagline was chest pain, possible heart attack, CLEVELAND CLINIC. These guys would fly to the States pay cash and get evaluated. Somehow selling medical services has become like selling automobiles.
Do not misunderstand, I hope this new treatment is beneficial. I just think it is cheap advertising.

Yeah I was thinking that if they knock you out isn’t it still considered surgery even if they aren’t cutting on you.
I’m pretty sure I would have to get knocked out or hit on the head with a large hammer at the very least before that happens.
I passed a kidney stone and I thought it was going to be like one of those sweet gum balls. When it hit the pan it was so small I was embarrassed at the carrying on I did.
