I came home from errands this afternoon and the street was filled with police and they had the perp on the ground surrounded by officers at a house across the street and two houses down from me. He ran from the adjoining sub behind my house into my sub.

Generally it is quiet around here, very low crime. Never been a shooting that I am aware of (except a guy that shoots on rural property about a mile away that I can hear now and then.

The sub it happened in costs a bit less than mine, but not "cheap" for this area. Not sure if this nut was living there or just visiting. Seems like he's mentally ill and trying to do a suicide by cop. The woman in the house was probably the owner or owner's daughter. Or they are renters - I don't know how many houses in that sub were bought up and then rented out in the past few years. He was wanted in Florida for battery of LE with a deadly weapon so maybe he came up here to get away from that.

I've posted before about recent and rapid demographic change here. Mostly that is due to apartments and low income units near the main roads, not out in the established subs.

This shows my house in blue, and the 1900 block of the street he shot at the police from in red. Not sure of the exact house. He probably ran south down Bridgewater Drive, between my two back neighbors houses, through my yard, then across the street and two houses east. Most of the yards are fenced but there is a pass-through to mine.

Fun stuff. About a year ago, I went to pickup my daughter at work; a five minute drive. The main road was the same as it ever was. Coming back ten minutes later, 10 squad cars on the main road, one with a deputy with a rifle on the hood of his Explorer covering several backyards, and we could hear another deputy with presumably a megaphone saying “Come out with your hands up!”

It was the guy’s girlfriend’s house. Her parents must have been proud.

I used to live out at Heritage Lake and also in Brownsburg. I moved to Muncie a year ago but I am familiar with where you are at. That i just nuts and you never know which is what is preached on this forum. Just when you think it's safe.....
